Yeah aftermarket mags are not high on my list of reliable mods to a carry gun. Plus you would ideally change the mag catch to a steel version to match those steel mags, and then that mag catch starts eating factory mags. And if you don't change the mag catch, the steel mags start eating your factory plastic mag catch. So you are effectively committing to the mag platform.

Tuna, a thanks from me as well. I think the channels who are or were focused on actual shooting, are all having difficulties with new content. The ammo shortage is affecting them.

For clarification to those who do not want to watch the video, he starts by pointing out what he considers to be the quintessential 21st century carry gun. He uses the G19 MOS as an example. It is red dot capable, will accept a rail mounted weapon light and a 15 round magazine.

He then reasons that the G19 has been surpassed by Glock's own creations, the G48 and G43X. However, he opines that Glock FAILED by making the G48 and G43X single stack 10 round guns, when they could have designed a 15 round mag. To support his contention, he points to Glock's aftermarket support that created such a 15 round magazine. He opines that Glock refused to create a 15 round mag in order to preserve G19 sales.

He also points to the P365XL as further proof that small, high cap, optic and weapon light ready options constitute the state of the art carry guns. He points out that even RMRs have been downscaled for EDC, and that all of the examples he used in his video: (1) feel better in his hand; (2) carry easier; and (3) emulate the G19 in all other respects making the G19 obsolete.

I think he was saying that the G19 is obsolete as a concealed carry weapon. I agree with that.

Is it obsolete as a handgun? No, and it still beats out most of the competition as a general handgun especially in CA.

That said, the first handgun I will buy when I'm in a free state is the new Walther PDP. I currently have a PPQ M2 and I love it.

The PDP come optics ready, and has even a better trigger.

And I will buy a Sig P365 or P365 XL for carry.

Yeah, that PDP seems pretty damn cool. When I move to a free state I'll be picking up the same 2 pistols as you for carry - a Walther PDP and a Sig P365 or XL.

I'll retire my G19 and G26 from my carry rotation.
