Semi-similar. In the case of MJ, it's illegal at the federal level, despite being legal in the state's eyes.

For magazines, they're illegal(ish) at the local level, while the feds couldn't give a rat's *** (yet.)

The State vs Fed law has always been a little contentious, but the general rulings have always been that States can enact and enforce stricter laws than Federal laws provide, but cannot loosen Federal laws (think Prohibition.) That's the primary point about the marijuana thing being different. It's uncharted waters, so to speak.

Not quite - feds are quite happy to enforce NFA and other gun-related laws when a state such as Montana doesn't care. They make it visible and public in order to create a deterrent. Didn't they go after guys shooting full-auto in the middle of nowhere on their own land?

The true test of feds vs. states would be if a large state, say TX, decided to become a "2A sanctuary state" and declared they "legalized full auto guns, anyone can buy one at a 'dispensary' without needing prescription." Or, if they said anyone can buy NEW guns without going through an FFL.

I think that people who believe marijuana is legal would be shocked, shocked I say, to learn that feds CAN come in and clean it up if they want to.

Doesn't change the legality of the situation.

Worse, any time we all casually ignore the law (Irish Democracy, yay), we are open to the shifts in political winds where the law starts getting enforced selectively against the undesirables, e.g., Neanderthals/deplorables.

Did Montana legalize NFA items? If not, we're not talking about the same thing. Ignoring the breaking of law is different than legalizing the action despite a higher existing ban.

My point was that California (and other states) has legalized use of marijuana contrary to Federal law.

Which is exactly what I said about Cal vs Fed marijuana laws.

Yes it's legal to use your 50 round drum mags at the range, just did so myself with my legally owned magazines.

And remember, the term "high capacity" is a bull**** term created by anti-gun fascists who want to disarm you, dont parrot their terminology.
