    1st Gen Taurus Model 80

Doing a little research on an old Taurus revolver and thought I'd share here since calling Taurus didn't help (they don't have info on pre-80's revolvers).

From what I've read, the fact that it has the serrated top strap (front to back, as well as side to side), front sight, and cylinder flutes are what define it as 1st gen, since those were removed from the second generation. This revolver also has the silver grip medallions with the older bull emblem. The tapered barrel was upgraded to a bull barrel in the later Model 82, so this cannot fire +P loads. It only has a 6-digit numerical serial number starting with "614" that appears to indicate it is from the early 70's.

Would love to hear from anyone who has more info on this.

Do not try and bend the spoon, that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth...there is no spoon.

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I worked in a chain store sporting good store in the mid-1970s and we sold Taurus revolvers. Yours looks very much like the models we sold - cylinder flutes scored, straw type hammer and trigger.

I've been doing this myself, but guns we used to make a little fun of back then such as H&R, High Standard (revolvers) and Iver Johnson, etc are making a bit of a comeback in the used market. Probably due in part to guys my age looking back, low pricing and wanting something that isn't plastic and spray paint finished. Plinking with an H&R Sportsman and JC Higgins is a little nostalgic fun. Probably about the same with the Taurus.

Huh, I'm not entirely sure but I think I really like the cylinder like that.
