Beretta 21A

I have a 950 in 22 short - so of course the 25 ACP mags are cheaper and more readily available. Having bought the 21, same thing - ACP mags are easier to find and cost less. Oh well, at least I have about 20K rounds of 22 ammo. Plenty to pick from to see what works.
Actually, buying this came up when poking around for a home gun for a friend's wife. She doesn't like guns, shooting blanks would probably spook her. She'll be practicing with, of all things, an old JC Higgins 6" just to get used to pulling a trigger and the noise. I came across the 21 and a Beretta 84, both nickel finish, both in the box. Have no need for either, so of course bought both.
There's still blued version of each, excellent but not in box, at River City Gun Exchange in Sac if anyone's looking.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

Bob Cats in .22 LR require higher velocity rounds to cycle correctly as others have mentioned. Stinger's are definitely the best in this pistol. Also, the advice to load the first round in the tip up is spot on. Racking the first round always seems to cause troubles. I also recommend after loading the magazine to capacity and before inserting it, take the time to "flick" the rim of the cartridge on the top backwards with your finger. This will point the nose of the first round into an upwards angle and facilitates better chambering of the first round out of the magazine. I had lots of troubles with Failure to Feeds before figuring out this technique. Fun pistol! Congrats.Comment

My dad has the .25 ACP but I never got to fire it. He sold it or traded it away. I've wanted the .22 LR but haven't found one for a reasonable price. Think it would be a fun gun to own. Maybe someday?NRA Life Member
