    Weak side shooting

When you practice weak side shooting, do you use dominant eye or non-dominant?

Was at the range today trying left hand shooting. I'm right handed, right eye dominant. I fell from a ladder a couple weeks ago, dislocated my right shoulder, and have been in a sling since.

Today I shot left handed(one handed), using left eye instead of right.

    Is that the correct technique?

It's a handgun, put it in front of whatever eye you want.

I use the dominant eye, which happens to be on my weak side anyhow. I've been training weak handed for about a year now, including carrying weak side. I tried shooting strong side yesterday, and realized how rusty I am on the strong side.

Use your dominant eye, your training your support side not your weak eye.

I always do strong and support side only drills and surprisingly almost always do better with my support side then my strong side.

Sound is crazy, but I use always both eyes. I mean, I never close any eye and can’t tell which eye I use.

Same here. I found weak side shooting and getting sights on target much easier and faster this way. It only took me months of practice to get to the point that I knew which of the two targets to focus on. ;-)

Support side hand using that side eye. IMHO you want expose the least amount of yourself as possible. Also often overlooked is support wide malfunction clearing and reloads.

I've dealt with double vision, that although corrected by prescription, throws me a curve when shooting pistol or shotgun with both eyes open.

I’m right handed and left eyed, shooting gun games I shoot righty, most guns are not lefty friendly, doing target stuff, I shoot lefty, and am more accurate...

Not necessary. A slight adjustment to your arm, and elbow, is all that's needed. I'm LH/LED. I practice a lot RH, with LE. Just need to adjust L/elbow, and R/arm angle slightly to bring things back in line. Holding a sidearm at a cant, can cause you to miss, unless you're "pressing" the trigger back. If you're "squeezing" the trigger, you're already getting a natural cant, and it will add a little more difficulty staying on target

A good practice to use the weak side.
