Just had two handguns done by them. They quoted me 3 to 4 weeks and it took 4. They did a trigger job on a Colt Diamondback and the improvement is night and day better. They also retimed a barrel on a revolver that another smith had screwed up. Prices were reasonable.

          Would use again.

My experience with them has been fine. On speed you never know. I once took a pistol to the gunsmith at a local range and it took almost a year to get it back. You just never know.

Bolsa is the Beretta authorized shop because when the Olympics were in LA, Fred let them use his shop for any repairs or adjustments when no other shops would. So he got rewarded with the authorization. Several years ago, my younger brother worked there. He did a lot of rifle and shotgun work, building some very accurate rifles...for which Fred took credit. At that time, they were mainly parts replacers except for favored or high end customers. They did not want to work on older firearms where parts had to be made, which Randy was capable of, because something else would fail and they would get the blame, in Fred's opinion, and it would end up being a never-ending stream of repairs to be done cheaply as the issue was "Bolsa's fault." Fred did do excellent wood work and refinishing/polishing. Randy did all the blueing and lathe work. When he left, Keith, another friend of mine had to go in and show them how to work their older lathe.
From what I understand, Fred's son-in-law, Jason is now pretty much running things and they have gotten better in many ways and more consistent. I cannot speak to their current service level.

Also if you have experiences for other shops that do outstanding action jobs please let me know.
Just send it to Wilson Combat and do it right. It will have a higher resale value and you will probably get it back sooner too.

I had stripped screw on my slide plate of my glock slide, went in there to see if they could get it out. told me it would take 3-4 weeks and they would have to send it somewhere. I mailed the slide to agency arms and they fixed it and sent it back within a day of receiving it.
                  Have a good day!

I recently purchased a M9a1 and had it shipped up to UG imports. They had a really good price for it being a plague price and great service. I would buy from them again.

This thread is about gunsmithing, not about buying guns.

only met Fred a couple of times but I believe you're right, Jason is the man to talk to so I had always assumed he was the manager.. don't remember any other names LoL, seems like there were two Dave's at one time or something like that.. met Jason's son in there a couple of times when he was younger, he's got to be old enough to work there by now? nice folks, I like going there..

I'll trade faster lead times for personalities any day.. not everyone gets along with everyone so it depends on what you're looking for.. I'm not ever in a hurry, I probably have at least two of everything if not more so don't really care how long something takes.. those that just want fast and cheap may not like a traditional style gunsmith shop but there's no shortage of choices

as for the op's question of what to do with his pistol, I prefer factory or as close to factory work as I can get on anything I plan to carry for self defense.. I sent my carry 226 directly to Sig for the AEP and SRT upgrades so I would have factory documentation should I ever have to use it.. I'm not going to be explaining to some jury of liberal pinheads why I gussy'd up my smoke wagon to go a killin'
I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

All my guns including Beretta's, go to Bolsa gunsmithing. They are very good!

They do good work. I had a break action freeze shut on me. I broke the disengagement piece and they somehow got it open so I could fix the rest. Reasonable $$ time doesn’t matter to me. I have another gun at a different shop for over a year now. I want something special done and I want it done right. I’m willing to wait.

I had pretty good luck with Trinity gunsmithing in Antioch. They did a nice job on installing some parts for me. Just my personal experience. Their turnaround time was also very reasonable.
