I read here someplace that Springfield does not pin the 1911 ejector...true or not??
True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.

Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

My oldest boy has a friend and he’s very adamant in getting a 1911. I have nothing against 1911s for it’s my favorite handgun. Through experience watching new shooters I’ve introduced to our sport, 90% of them asked me which handgun is my favorite. Lo and behold next range trip they have a 1911. I’ve had many premium beer and Bourbon gifted to me for reliability mods. I learned I have to tell them what they may experience when getting one. Most of them want a more modern out of the box 1911, but some are fixated with traditional GI WWII since their grandfathers swear by it. From experience: Sig 1911s, not very traditional of all 1911s are about good to go out of the box. Springfield Armory Loaded/LT: extractor not tensioned or over tensioned, ejector coming loose, full length guide rod loosening up issues and a couple I know lost the front rod. Para Ord/Remington: extractor problem-over tensioned. Colt’s: feeding issue - ramp.

I also heard it was glued in

The only Springfield that could be considered top tier is the Professional, and it's $3k

Yeah, there was a discussion on here that Springfield was gluing their 1911 ejectors. To fix the loose ejectors, some glued them back on and some sent them back to Springfield to get pinned.

Dan Wesson Valor if you can find, not on DOJ list, or Les Baer custom carry, on the list. Both top tier with the price to match.

Ask yourself this, would you commute in a 1911 model T Ford? If the answer is no, then that should give you everything you need to know. Much newer and more modern options are on the table.

Then why is it that 90% of Glock owners switch out major components from their Glock to truly get a good gun out of it?

I think your "facts" are wrong - I'd bet more than 90% don't change anything beyond sights and connector.

Yea, I exaggerated the % amount. Although I will say still a lot.

TRUE! My ejector got loose and jammed up my loaded target 9MM at 5700 rounds. Sent back to the mothership and returned with few words spoken. Pinned at the the Springfield mothership.

Me too...actually the only two handguns I have are 1911s and Glocks. Just recently a Smith and Wesson Model 41 snuck in somehow.

There was a recent Las Vegas police shooting and one of the officers used his Wilson Combat 1911 to help take care of business. Bad guy thought he could draw and shoot while a bunch of officers had Glocks, shotgun, 1911, tasers trained on him. No social workers were present as part of team to arrest the individual.

I saw that Vegas shooting, it was a detective who carried the Wilson. Also on scene a G17 and G19 and that shotgun. Looked like perp drew his gun and the holster came along with it - he never had a chance
