Do you have any children or parents that live out of CA?
If they like you enough, they can gift one to you.Originally posted by Kestryll:

- You do not have to be law enforcement to buy G43
- However if you are not law enforcement, you must buy it from a CA resident who already has one, in a face to face transfer at a CA FFL
- It cannot come from out of state unless it is coming from direct family meaning parent/grandparent/child/grandchild. Not siblings, not cousins/uncles/aunts, not step-relations or in-laws
If you want a G43, go to the marketplace subforum here and check it frequently for someone selling near you. Expect to pay $900-$1200Comment

Yes, a child or a parent (of you) can send you an off roster gun as a gift. Yes, it must go through an FFL as an "interfamiliar transfer" (or words to that effect).
Yes, you can own it. Anyone can own an off roster gun. The issue is how it becomes yours.==================

There can be a big difference in fees. But when it comes to intra-family inter-state off roster transfers, you have a bigger concern: many FFLs will have no idea what you are asking for, will tell you it is not legal etc.
So when searching for a FFL to do such a transfer, your first criteria is not price - it is whether they will do it at all.
Your second criteria is how they will accept the shipment. Some will not accept shipments from private parties, they will require the gun to come from another FFL. But that can be an issue because a lot of out of state FFLs will not do what it takes to ship a gun into CA, namely they must register for a CFLC account (free) and fill out a shipment form and receive approval from CA DOJ before shipping, and include the approval form in the box.
So the transfer price is maybe the 3rd thing you should worry about, after you narrow down the first two. In SoCal the FFL location can be pretty important too - so transfer fee is maybe the 4th thing to worry about.Last edited by SkyHawk; 11-02-2020, 12:39 PM.Comment

Yup, and not every dealer is willing to do these type of transfers. Post up where you are and someone will let you know of dealers in your area willing to do them and not charge you an arm and a leg.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
