Well hopefully they finally got their lock up problem resolved, they're beautiful revolvers I have the King Cobra model but it'll never measure up to the King Cobra of the 80's 😥

I just picked up the 6" version and was surprised at how closely the finish, once it's cleaned off a bit, looks like polished nickel. Especially on the barrel, cylinder and bottom edge of the frame and trigger guard. Frame sides, not so much. Not that it's going to fool anyone, just looks very nice.

The DA trigger pull is somewhere between the old Python and an S&W. No stacking at all, very even start to end and shorter than the original. But not nearly as crisp as S&W.

Thumb cocking the action is very smooth. Not quite as easy as the original, but pretty close.

The SA pull is disappointing. You can see the hammer cam back just a bit as the trigger is pulled, and the engagement is long. No creep, just more SA sear and sear notch engagement than is needed.

All in all I like it alot. I already had a set of Deer Hollow OM Trooper grips (silver medallions) on hand and decided to use them instead of the current grips. The current factory grips have silver medallions, which is a bit different than the original Python, which always used gold.

They're not cheap, but they're the best out there IMHO. Fit perfect.

...which makes it a money saver for Colt.

Its a bit hard to really tell what the gun looks like in pictures, I’d have to hold it. I recently went down the rabbit hole of finish options for my stainless steel 1911. Its currently brushed on the flats and sand blasted on the rounds. From nickel to chrome plating, hi polish, media blasting, nickel...there are so many different ways companies can finish a stainless gun. My only recommendation would be to give it a nice cleaning. My ss pistol looked very similar when I first took it out of the box. Once I stripped it of all factory oils/grease, and re-oiled it with Lucas gun oil, the true color came through.

That was my opinion viewing on line. But it's definitely not the case. The barrel, cylinder, cylinder crane and right side frame forward of the cylinder, lower edge of the frame and trigger guard have definitely been polished. Frame flats behind the cylinder - not so much.

It's definitely not left bead blasted, if that was part of the process, and it's not a "spray paint" type finish like newer S&Ws. Don't know that I'd feel comfortable doing any polishing with the expectation of getting that "is it nickel?" finish though. The stainless has a touch of grey to it and my concern is any abrasive, however slight, might put an uneven finish to it.
