Revolvers

Kinda gonna agree that the revolver way is not the simple way, especially considering revolvers have a much longer history of designs to search for, and at least in today's market they sell for a higher price than a majority of semi-auto's.

Got a modest start with a S&W Model 10-8, S&W M1917, and a S&W M28-2, which seems to have sated my desire for revolvers for the moment (what can I say, the Prohibition through the 70's movies of cops and robbers with double-action revolvers caught my eye more than westerns when it came to revolvers), but I'll admit if I can find an older Model 57 with a 6 inch barrel, I might be able to finally call my revolver lineup "complete" in checking the "big bore revolver" off my checklist.

Also ended up growing up with a lot of westerns as a kid, and ironically enough the revolvers and shotguns didn't really catch my attention too much; almost everybody having a Colt SAA on their hip made them look plain after awhile (though it gave me a more interested outlook on pretty much all the cap and ball revolvers in comparison. Darn you, Clint Eastwood!). The Winchester lever guns were what caught my eye, and I'll fully admit Westerns got me hooked onto those really bad.

My daughter has other guns but she chose her 4" GP100 with .38 spl +P as her home defense gun. She loves that gun.

I brought my match champion by my folks house shortly after I got it. I was in the backyard shooting a few boxes through it, and my mom who never had shot anything around me before came outside and insisted on shooting a couple of cylinders. My mom could shoot! That memory with her and that gun cemented it as the last gun I'll ever get rid of.

You forgot to mention the Freedom Arms 83 revolver, and matching Big Horn rifle. In 454 Casull.

That would be a nice pair, or sub in a Ruger Alaskan! One revolver I've been lusting after for a while is the Standard Manufacturing SAA.

I gave my original GP100 to my daughter last year because she claimed that she needed it more than I did. As I mentioned, it's now her HD gun. I missed it so much that I eventually bought a Match Champion. The wood grips were okay but I missed the GP100 look so I ordered a set of rubber with rosewood inserts from Altamont Grips. They are a little fancier than the original stock grips and have snakeskin checkering. I'm very pleased with them.

That's a good looking match champion, mine is the adjustable sight version. I have several guns waiting on my daughter, she's only two. My 870 youth 20 guage and 10/22 stainless carbine, both bought with my dad when I was about 12, and whatever else she wants lol.

The 30 carbine Blackhawk has been on my radar for a bit, just seems like something I need in my life! The rest of mine are either .44 mag or .357 mag. I picked up a Rossi R92 blued in .44 mag to pair with my Blackhawk .44, it is a 20 in, but now I need a 16 inch stainless lever in .357 mag to pair with my match Champion! Manually operated firearms are just so dang cool.

The 30 carbine Blackhawk is a great gun to own and it gets people's attention at the range. I don't know if it's the loud boom or the 6" muzzle flash. Mine is the older three screw model that I bought used from Martin B. Retting back in the 90s. I put the stag grips on and still have the originals.

Thanks, I've been really happy with it. I kept the Hogue wood grips that came on it.
My kids (1 girl, 2 boys) are considerably older and they will inherit all of my guns which is why I never sell any. I've given my daughter four handguns because she has a safe and my boys don't. She'll have to wait for the rest.

Back in the early 90's, I had my GP100 worked on by "The Gunsight" in North Orange County. They were among the top gunsmiths in So Cal at the time. They did the most beautiful Trigger Job I have personally ever felt. One of my Python owning buddies was so jealous after he shot it. He swore it was "almost better" than his Python (No Python owner will ever admit a Ruger is better than a Python). Anyway, I still own that GP100 and "The Gunsight" is long gone. I heard their main gunsmith passed away. I knew he was a chain smoker. My GP100 is now irreplaceable. I have to decide which of my 2 kids will inherit it after I am gone ;-).

A Ruger Single-6/10 is a revolver everyone should own,
at some point of their life.

Many a kid has been taught basic shooting safety and skills with one of those.

That was the first pistol for many of my friends.
