Walther P88

It seems that the civilian market benefitted from the Army handgun trials. I have a pair of Star 30M pistols that I believe were also part of that trial. Nice guns, but heavy and clunky next to most of the other candidates.

The Walther p5, Sig Sauer p6, and HK p7 were born from the 1976 West German police
pistol trials following the Munich Germany olympic incident.

That said, civilians have certainly benefited from both the west german police pistol trials and the various US military pistol trials.

Wow $800 for each!! Walther P88 is like a unicorn and dream pistol for me. I read a few articles about it in mid 90's . The one and only I saw was at Killeen , Texas Pawnshop for a cool $1,200 in 1991 my base pay as PFC was barely $800 .Please post lot of pictures when you get them

Those are neat pistols!!

But they have both been fired.No Walther pistol is "unfired" they are all test fired before being released for sale.

Probably a better term is unfired since they left the factory.

Indeed. They may have seen some use, as there was no guarantee of being brand new. My unscientific appraisal of condition boiled down to "If this was a BNIB Pistol fresh from the mfr, would I buy it? Plus there are some minor scratches and edge wear, but it is pretty close.

I have read that these came with manuals and test targets, but these did not have them. I am just glad both came with the spare magazines and are Walther branded. The factory mags are unobtanium as far as I can tell.

The double action pull is superior to any other production gun I have. The pistol is tight and the overall build quality is stellar. I will shoot.one of them at least. I do appreciate all the feedback in the thread gents.

Sig P210 accuracy with Walther ergonomics. Those looks pristine!
