Best light for compact Glocks?
Tags: None -
The answer as always is it depends on what your needs are.
If you carry OWB, then the larger lights are better because more lumens, runtime, etc.
If you carry IWB, it depends on your body size. Larger lights may jab you but give more lumen/runtime. Smaller lights like the tlr-7 sacrifice lumen/runtime for compactness and comfort. For me, I run a surefire x300u when I'm using my OWB Ragnarok holster and tlr-7 for my IWB holster. Regardless, you should always run a light because you never know when you'll need it. -
This looks like a good compact light.Comment

I run a Tlr 1 or Tlr 2 on my Glock 29 works great . I notice the Light sticking out past the barrel keeps from Carbon build up on the lense it self compared to my Glock 20.Comment

1)AR15 Aero Precision Skeletonized Lower
2)S&W 686 6in barrel ...686 No dash through 686-4
3) Saltworks M5 upper/lower set

I run an Olight PL mini 2 on my G45. I own both the Mini and the Mini 2. The Mini 2 is a much better choice. The Mini 2's 200 extra lumens is welcome, as is its ability to adjust to fit many different platforms. I also had no problem finding a holster to fit the Glock 19 / Mini 2 combo.Comment

Instaramen, good point, I should have included how I carry. I predominately carry appendix and I bought the 19 and 30s prior to obtaining my carry permit based on what I read and advice from others. They are both excellent carry platforms, but at 6'3" 300 lbs, I've come to realize I could easily carry a full-size pistol without compromising concealment or comfort.
DCF, thanks for the link, sadly they are all out of stock now...
Mr. Caketown, I have not looked at the Inforce, thanks for the suggestion.
To all the rest, thank you for your posts.Comment

Olight PL-Mini is my favorite weapon light. I have something like 5 of them now. All my other lights got yanked off and replaced with Olights. They're tiny, powerful, easy to use, reliable, and easy to charge. The only way to make it more desirable would be to manufacture them in the US."Show me a young conservative and I'll show you a man without a heart. I put a TLR7 on my G19 for bedside duty, it comes off when I carry. It is well made but I need to take a class with it.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. The TRL7 is a great match for the G19. The light almost seems like it was designed around the G19. The width, length and height all seem to match the frame and rail perfectly.Comment

So a lumen questions. If the intended use is EDC & nightstand, how bright do I need? (I'm guessing this is one of those questions like asking which caliber is best...sorry if it opens up a can of worms.)
It seems most the newer compact lights (TLR 7 / PL-Mini) are in the 500 to 600 range, and the longer lights (TLR 1HL / PL-Pro / X300) are in the 1000 to 1500 range.
I presume there is too bright for indoor aspect to consider?
A few of the larger lights I've looked at have a secondary lower setting, most around 300 lumens. Is 300 good enough for indoor as a compromise to have brighter for outdoor?
As for all the replies suggesting training...yes! I did one low light training years ago utilizing a handheld, but more training is always best!
Jessegpresley...thanks for sharing. I hope the trainers at the LA Sheriff department addressed this.Comment
