Just signed the DROS and now she's in jail for who knows how long. Last PPT I did was 13 days.

Anyways, can't wait to get her out to the range. Any fellow TRR8/R8 owners out there? Looking for recs for moon clips/holders and speedloaders. Not doing any competition shooting, just for the range and home.

I own one as well, i haven't shot it in a while, last time I took it out it did have some light primer strikes but next range trip I want to see if tightening the strain screw resolves the light strike problem. I never did get around to looking for moon clips or speed loaders so no recommendations there but hope your DROS goes by quickly so you can take it out soon.

The factory moon clips suck. Get a set of good ones from Revolver Supply. Different head-stamp cases need different moon clips. The rim thickness is different between Winchester, Federal, Remington, etc...

I have 2 N frame 8 rounders, the 627 5”and 2 5/8”. The moon clips are just ok. They aren’t like with 45 acp in my experience, they rarely just drop in easy peasy.. It makes for smoother extraction though.
I gave up on using them regularly at the range a while ago, just more trouble than it was worth.

Revolver Supply, TK Custom - get thinner moonclips for mixed brass as you can use thinner on any brass, but not the other way around.

Also, check out speed loaders from 5 Star. These are great for revolvers not cut for moon clips, or just to have around and use at the range. (More convenient to use at the range when reloading speed is not a factor.)

Get a BMT Mooner. http://www.bmtequipped.com/purchase.php Yes, they are expensive, but are worth EVERY penny. It takes a few seconds to load or unload a clip. No busting hands or knuckles. Awesome tool. I have one for my TRR8 and one for my J frames. The N38-8 tool works with the TRR8.
