I just wanted to thank everyone also; this is great advice for me, too. I will start wiping down my pistol with a rag before getting back from the range in case I can’t clean it right away.

As TAS said you shouldn't keep 'em in the foam-lined plastic case or they will rust. It happened to me... but with a sig. My mags got little rust spots all over them. Now I use silicon socks. The socks allow moisture to escape and the box keeps it inside.

I kept a rifle in a pelican case for years with no issues.

Key things are-

pelican foam is not acidic like a lot of foams.

I kept a lot of dessicant in the case

If the foam was exposed to moisture.... shooting in the rain.... put rifle back in while wet... get home, pull foam out for several days to let it dry completely and dry out the dessicant again before packing it back up.
