Who ARE you and what have you done to the real BigPimping?!?! The real BigPimping would never recommend anything but a Glock.

A Shield doesn't belong in this conversation on so many levels. For one thing, it's two sizes larger than a Tomcat: https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/...n-m-p-9-shield And it's not metal, and it's not DA/SA.

I had a Shield. Good gun. I traded it when I was able to locate one of my holy grail guns: A S&W CS9. Also 9mm, smaller than the Shield (although heavier), 7+1, all metal, and DA/SA. Now I am on a quest for even smaller DA/SA metal guns. There aren't a lot to choose from.

I would like a Seecamp but there is no way I'd spend money on the CA version.

The CA version has a trigger with a safety. For about $30 you can buy the non safety trigger and swap it in.

Excellent gun. The tilt barrel is perfect for women who dint have hand strength to rack a slide. Excellent shooting too. The downside is the frame is weak as beretta even acknowledges and normal 32 acp will crack it so u need to use even more anemic rounds as it stands now. The gun is heavy too for a 32.

A better choices which is much lighter and thinner is the keltec 32, perhaps the ultimate deep carry pistol ever as its light small and will still get the job done.

Sorry but that Beretta would not be my choice for mice or rat hunting. A good .177 pellet gun or a 22LR is better suited to that cause. The Tomcat is too small and its accuracy is questionable for small targets at 25 feet or so. Lastly, I would not use a .32 for self defense and abide by the minimum caliber standard of .380 being the starting point. If you just want that gun, have at it.

Hard to be accurate with it beyond 4 yards.

Even though I owned a Tomcat years ago I would not buy another on. When it comes to small semi-autos I'll stick with my Kimber Ultra Carry II or buy a Glock G27.

OK, gentlemen. You have succeeded in talking some sense into me. I now see how misguided the Tomcat purchase would have been. However, I think you have talked me into a Seecamp .32!!!!

Turner's also has them $100 off right now, at $500. Fortunately, they are "temporarily unavailable." Any hate on the Seecamp .32 that can save me from my next folly before they get them in stock?

To the OP, I've been owning and shooting two Beretta Tomcats for over 6 years. They are OK guns for their intended purpose. Be advised that the frame cracking issue you've heard about is caused by hot ammo -- over 130 ft./lbs. For the ammo on the market today, that basically means do not use the Fiocci .32 ammo. The other available ammo is fine.

The gun is surprisingly accurate for what it is. What it is not is a range gun. But I find it fun to practice with occasionally, and practical to carry.

Having said all that, if you are looking for a small EDC gun, I also would recommend that you check out the Sig P238. It is a beautifully designed gun, kind of like a miniaturized 1911 for .380 cal. That is my carry gun of choice.

Either way you'll have a good gun, within their design limitations.

Much as I like small guns and have recently grabbed a few - Baby Browning, Beretta 950, Mauser 1910, NAA in 32 ACP - the fun of popping off a few rounds and hitting not much of anything loses a bit of its appeal when buying ammo at about $20.00 a box. I picked up the 950 in 22 short because it's cheapest to shoot and my OCD picking up brass for reloading doesn't kick in.

No hate on the Seecamp. If you can find an off roster one without all the nanny state BS, it's a better all around gun. She's picky on ammo, but you should be ok with most fmj.
