Do I need a Beretta Tomcat?

Thanks guys! You have walked me back from the brink and I'm not going to buy a Tomcat (now). Lots of practical reasons - not clear that it would really fill a role that the P238 can't, and the P238 shoots darn good. Maybe most important, I don't want to add a caliber at this time, with internet orders requiring an FFL and Covid-19 jacking up prices. Maybe things will settle down and I will buy one just for fun at some point.
As practical as the P238 is, when you look at them side by side, I have to say the Beretta looks a lot nicer to me: https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/...sig-sauer-p238Pooty Poot, you sure screwed the pooch this time! - Ghost of Roza Shanina, WWII Soviet SniperComment

I believe the topic asks if you need a certain model of gun, I stopped reading there because I already know the answer: YESIn my quest for ever smaller DA/SA metal guns, the Beretta Tomcat 3032 is a potential acquisition. The reviews say they are well built, "heirloom quality," reliable, and kind of nifty with the tilt up barrel. The Inox version is also on sale right now at Turner's for $400: https://www.turners.com/beretta/bere...-stainless-704
I have never seen this forum talk anyone out of buying anything, so I won't ask you to do that. I will ask you to sell me on it. Anyone have one? Do you like it?
Naturally, the question will arise: what will I use it for? I plan to use it for hunting mice on my property. That is what mouseguns are for, right? OK, OK, seriously, this is what I will use it for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzllplG0x2I Alright, you caught me. It has no use. .32 ACP is not a man-stopper. I don't stock .32 ACP now so will have to buy it at outrageous prices. If I ever get a CCW, my local IA authority won't allow me to put it on my permit - nothing under .380 acp.
But they are kinda cool, right?Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty.

Tomcats are well made, but a bit novelty with the anemic .32 acp round. A Kahr PM9 isn't much bigger, but much more effective for SD. For mice what about a .22 revolver in lr or wmr.Comment

I bought a 3032 when they first came out 20+ years ago. Reliability was good, accuracy was okay and better options are available. I kept my Seecamp and Keltec P32, sold everything else in 32acp but don’t have anything smaller than 9mm on my permit. When the battle drum beats, it is too late to sharpen your sword."

If you're looking for that type of a firearm, I think a Shield would be a lot better. I just think they're better made. More usable as well and the ammo is more easily acquired.sigpic

I had the 21A and sold it.
Tomcat is more useless than the 21A.Comment
