        - try a seecamp .32 instead

        - the tomcat cannot be dry-fired

        - tomcat is bigger

        - if you can get off roster, go that route for something newer in .32

        - .32 is lethal despite what anyone says

Thanks guys! You have walked me back from the brink and I'm not going to buy a Tomcat (now). Lots of practical reasons - not clear that it would really fill a role that the P238 can't, and the P238 shoots darn good. Maybe most important, I don't want to add a caliber at this time, with internet orders requiring an FFL and Covid-19 jacking up prices. Maybe things will settle down and I will buy one just for fun at some point.

As practical as the P238 is, when you look at them side by side, I have to say the Beretta looks a lot nicer to me: https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/...sig-sauer-p238

The Inox version is also on sale right now at Turner's for $400: https://www.turners.com/beretta/bere...-stainless-704

I have never seen this forum talk anyone out of buying anything, so I won't ask you to do that. I will ask you to sell me on it. Anyone have one? Do you like it?

Naturally, the question will arise: what will I use it for? I plan to use it for hunting mice on my property. That is what mouseguns are for, right? OK, OK, seriously, this is what I will use it for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzllplG0x2I Alright, you caught me. It has no use. .32 ACP is not a man-stopper. I don't stock .32 ACP now so will have to buy it at outrageous prices. If I ever get a CCW, my local IA authority won't allow me to put it on my permit - nothing under .380 acp.

But they are kinda cool, right?
I believe the topic asks if you need a certain model of gun, I stopped reading there because I already know the answer: YES

Tomcats are well made, but a bit novelty with the anemic .32 acp round. A Kahr PM9 isn't much bigger, but much more effective for SD. For mice what about a .22 revolver in lr or wmr.

Now there's an idea. I have a half a metric s**t ton of .380, but i have about seven metric s**t tons of .22LR! Maybe I need a mouse revolver, to protect me against dangerous mice!

I bought a 3032 when they first came out 20+ years ago. Reliability was good, accuracy was okay and better options are available. I kept my Seecamp and Keltec P32, sold everything else in 32acp but don’t have anything smaller than 9mm on my permit.

If you're looking for that type of a firearm, I think a Shield would be a lot better. I just think they're better made. More usable as well and the ammo is more easily acquired.

I bought one back when they first came out. As someone already mentioned, the slide can really get you in the web of your hand. That was the only problem I had with it.

I had the 21A and sold it.
Tomcat is more useless than the 21A.
