    yup

it's a hammer fired gun so pulling the slide with the hammer down takes some effort.

Trigger should smoothen out after a few hundred rounds. Just shoot it and enjoy it.

Meh, no amount of shooting will rid of the very apparent creep saftey model SP-01's with firing pin blocks have in their trigger pulls. I shot about 150 rounds in my SP-01 with disappointment until I installed the Cajun Gun Works Pro Package. It completely changed the trigger pull and is now a dream to shoot. There is a reason why CGW is able to charge $300+ for their trigger kits - it works.

I have to chime in here. I own a few SP-01s. Its my overall favorite handgun with one exception - the trigger. The triggers on mine are just horrible. My P-01's triggers are FAR better just out of the box.

My SP-01s (different production years) all have very similar awful triggers. First you take up the slack until you hit the wall. Then there's this awful drag before the break. Like dragging a cinder block across concrete. Its bad enough that even though I shoot the gun well enough for defensive purposes, I'm less accurate than I am with my P-01s, and Beretta M9A1s.

My trigger has not improved with time. I just passed 4000 rounds on my first SP01 and the trigger is still awful. My second SP01 is at about 800 and still sucks. One day I will Cajunize one of them and unlock the gun's true potential.

On the plus side, spending time with the awful trigger made me better on my P01s and Berettas.

Pistols that have stiff triggers sometimes arrive with an empty package or two of little blue pills.

Replace the hammer spring and extended firing fin. Much smoother and easier to shoot. Under 35 bucks. No need to buy the whole trigger kit.

Yup, I high recommend to pony up the money the first time to get it done right. The pro package comes with an extended firing pin for that very reason. You can save $200 installing the kit yourself. It wasn't too difficult and CGW is more than glad to help you along the way.

                A few recommendations:
                1) buy extra lifter springs for the firing block lifter
                2) buy the starter punch
                3) buy a spare hammer strut and ask CGW to install the hammer pins for you

That completed hammer will save you half of the heartache from the start and makes the rest of the project straightforward.

Get the mcarbo trigger spring kit. It's Low priced kit that improves the trigger. I have installed this kit on my cz75 D. I love my trigger pull now.

As for help pulling the slide back. Make sure hold the gun high on the grip and even with the center of your chest with elbows pointed out and use your shoulder muscles to help rack it back.

I've got both an SP-01 and a P-01. I bought the SP-01 first and after getting used to the trigger and with the pistol delivering as shown here (picture), I've kept it stock. The P-01, however, got shipped off the Cajun Gun Works.

Which one I like better, I can't say. I admire the SP-01 accuracy while I like the sheer utility of the P-01.

I have an SP-01 and I like the stock trigger and have left it alone. Go figure.
