Pistol-virgin question

Yo,

I'm a rifle guy, but my brother just bought a SIG P226, and I gotta say, I want one too.

Ive always been a big fan of the COLT 1911 (with conversion kit to .22)

And that's what i'm looking for too...to convert to a .22 whenever ammo becomes scarce....

SO what's a good gun for me to buy for my first time, but have around for a long time. (NOTE: i don't like six-shooters....just never have..sorry )

Now, what do my fellow calgunners suggest?

1911s since your a big fan and they do have some good .22lr conversions for them.

P226 is awesome, but only one .22 conversion is available and its been getting mixed reviews.

CZ 75 series of guns have Sig accuracy and reliability as well as having an excellent .22 conversion available.

Glocks, they have tons of after market stuff available for them as well as a few .22 conversion.

You can't go wrong with a Sig.

The 226 was my first.

I love my 220 as well. . . can't beat .45 if you're restricted to 10 rounds anyway.

I love my CZ pistols but the 75 is a 9mm as opposed to the .45 you'd be getting on most 1911 platforms.

I wouldn't pick my only handgun based on the fact that I can get a .22 conversion for it. Buy a .22 for plinking and whatever handgun you want for defense. At least thats my .02

Buy a Ruger Mark 3 for $300.

Kimber makes one, but the slide doesn't lock after the last round.

I know a lot of people like their P22 but before you buy, read up on how picky they are with ammo. Don't forget about Beretta U22 NEOS, Browning Buckmark or Ruger Mark III.
