    Dawson Sight Install into Glock

Ok, my new sights from Dawson arrived. Watched the video from Dawson on how to fit/install new sights. Got the rear one in no problem.

Per their video and instructions the front sight should fit right into the slide. Well it doesn't, as much as I press the new sight will not go into the hole in the slide. It starts to go in then stops about half way.
On close inspection of the hole in my slide it appears that there are two raised sections in the hole (see attached pic). I assume this is what the hold up is. Didn't want to force it. Any suggestions?

    Raised sections?

On the top surface of the slide or are you saying the slot was not cut perfectly?

I knew that might come out wrong.

In the slot, not on top of the slide.

The slot is “pinched” on the two flats correct?

Yes, but both sides are not equally "pinched".

Not that it makes a difference but this is a Gen 2 Glock 22.

I’ve never seen that, let’s wait for others to chime in.

              Are you the original owner?

No, it was a police trade in I purchased in the 90's. I assume I was the second owner as it looked extremely clean when I bought it. It had factory sights.

OP, take a better picture that shows in detail what you are seeing, contact Dawson, explain what's going on, and send them the picture. They may be able to help you fix it.

I would simply fit the sight to the slide.
Easy peasy with a needle file with a safe edge.

Not at all questioning your knowledge because I know you are a smith. I don't know how I could take material off the sight where material needs to come off with any file. Maybe a very small bit in a dremel. Educate me.

Is a needle file tip something you can spin on a surface and remove material?

Of course I thought about taking material off the slide but figured that would throw off the POI.

I'm confused. If the hole isn't big enough for the sight/stud to fit thru, open it up. It doesn't sound like rocket surgery.

Needle files, but I don’t think they have a “safe edge”.
