Springfield Armory Marine Op vs. Long Beach Op

    Hello all,

I actually do have a SA Marine Corp Operator. Are there any differences between it and the Long Beach Operator other than the color scheme?

    Thanks

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I found this while searching around.

The Long Beach Operator is a 1911-A1 model handgun from Springfield Armory that closely mimics it's parent pistol, the MC Operator. Per a request from the Long Beach, California Police Department, Springfield Armory built the Springfield Loaded Operator Long Beach Police Mod 1911, more commonly called, "the Long Beach Operator". Long Beach Police Department placed a RFQ with Springfield Armory for several hundred custom spec'd 1911s for the entire police department. Springfield Armory designed t

I'm under the impression that the USMC does not specify Springfield as the source for their pistols..and given the "Long Beach" name, neither does the USN for the SEALS.

Am I correct in either or both cases, or is SA offering these 2 weapons for wanna' be civilian operators operating operationally?

Two nephews, both in USMC Force Recon, were not and have not been issued SA weapons.

NEVER MIND...took a look at the 2 reviews, neither have anything to do with the military...the Long Beach Operator was for the Long Beach, California police department.

Not to cast negativity on this thread, but to me Long Beach is a place I think of when someone in Los Angeles or thereabouts flushes the toilet. Having a sidearm with such a name on it is a pass.

Having the current Springfield name on a weapon is also a pass.

Springfield Armory Marine Op vs. Long Beach Op

They're both Springfield Loaded pistols with a half-rail frame and some color.

The MC Operator has a matte olive drab finish on it's frame with a semi gloss black slide... And for $101 more, the all-black Long Beach Operator (looks like they dropped the "Long Beach" from the model name) gets a magwell butt funnel?

Not bad pistols for well under $1500, though. Good enough for the first few years of a new pistolero's experience. After that it's time to $tep up. The only thing one might do to one of these out of the box is pin the ejector.

It's time for me to $tep up, but I'm saving for a Springfield Professional.

Here're my two Loadeds. One is a Parkerized Loaded, the other an MC Operator... shown with a Kimber Ultra CDP II compact. All three are chambered in .45
