Had a g30, and surprisingly I shot it better than my g21. Carrying it felt like a fatter 19. I Kind of regret getting rid of her.

As for the reliability and accuracy and iconic gun handling reputation of a compact 1911, I'd strongly recommend
a Colt 1st, Springfield 2nd in any of the standard size steel frame 5 inch steel Slide models. Color of your choice of course.

Shield .45 Performance Center hands down..... if you can find one. Very thin and light compared to others. Recoil is also very managable in a small package.

My regular carry is a Colt CCO, officer frame with commander slide. Reliability with a 1911 does drop when the slide gets smaller than 4 inches.
Not something that can’t be managed by being proactive about spring replacement etc. On the other hand people swear by their defenders, mine hasn’t given me any problems. Hardest part of a 1911 to conceal is the grip, so no big reason to go with a shorter barrel IMO.

Also don’t forget the Kahr P45 - I do like their triggers.

I have a Kimber Ultra Covert II - same size, and very nice handling (depending on ammo, of course) for an officer-sized pistol.

I DID get rid of the Crimson Trace grips, for some wrap-around Hogues, for a better grip.

                    Bottom one, obviously.

Kimber Ultra CDP II, same size as the other 3" Ultra Kimbers already posted in this thread.

The CDP II's extras are the "Carry Melt Treatment" (intended to reduce clothing snags on draw), Meprolight tritium-insert combat sights and the stainless slide on a black frame.

This a very manageable gun for it's caliber and weight, but I stick with standard 230 grain ball and hollowpoint loads. 185 grain bullet loads are wicked stout from this gun.

I shoot two Springfield Government-sized .45 1911s, so this little Kimber is only fired on a regular basis once every two or three months, and for 25 rounds as a function test.

I also like the function test because it lets me cycle fresh ammo into it (the pistol is often unloaded then loaded again as per daily routine which can be rough on the cartridge due to this size gun's ultra-steep feed ramp and extraction).
                      .

All these baby 1911’s aren’t doing me any favors on the ‘money burning a hole in my pocket’ disease I have going on!

                          Springfield XDE 45.

As much as I think the Shield 45 is one of, if not the best carry 45's, I have wanted to replace mine with the XDE from the first time I held and fired one. If you're a hammer fan, this one can't be beat.

                            Still a pretty heavy gun

                            Not mine, but extremely similar

If the Glock 30SF fits your hand, then that would be my first recommendation if you're limited to the roster. Not many compact .45 acp guns carry 10+1 rounds.
