More on the new Python
Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I'm not one of the "Colt really screwed it up" people, but I think Colt needs to do a bit more regarding the hand and cylinder issue. This is an OK start. Keeping the side-plate screw tight is fine, but the gun ought not stop working if it backs out a bit. Reducing play between the inside of the floorplate and hand, or reworking the side-plate similar to S&W is something that should be done. I have 100 year old Colts that don't have this issue, nor does the similarly actioned new Cobra or Trooper MkIII or Anaconda.
I presume the fellow in the video is Justin Baldini? He shouldn't be so enthusiastic, as though it's an accomplishment of worthy effort, of making a gun fire all the ammo for which it's chambered regardless of manufacturer.GOA Member & SAF Life Member -
Well this is better than the ‘nothing to see here’ and ‘all ammo not sold by Colt sucks’ statement they gave last time.Comment

They blew it. I was going to buy one. Now I'm not. Some people will still take the chance but many like me will not. Hard for me to justify 1500 for a six shooter, an antiquated tool.Comment

It sounds like they all left with a too-light hammer spring.Comment

I’m not even sure that colt themselves are even making the products so many qc problems with the cobra and king cobra I wouldn’t be surprised if they had problems on the Python, colt quality has really gone downhill and to me the new guns that they make today are really not worth buyingComment

I’m a total “s@$t happens” kind of a guy, I mean nothing man made is perfect. Although I’m not a huge Colt aficionado, I am a huge Python fan. For Colt to release a new Python with the issues we’ve heard about is inexcusable. The bosses at Colt had to know how high the expectations would be, and if they didn’t or rushed it, they don’t deserve a job sweeping the floors there.
I hope they work it out, I don’t like to see any American company fail, especially one with Colt’s legacy.Comment

According to Colt (noidea on accuracy here) they have received 18 Pythons returned for issues, 6 of which were mechanical (others were cosmetic. Not sure if the crown issue was considered cosmetic or mechanical.)
Around 2500 guns were shipped to distributors.
That's a .2% return rate. IMO, that's not horrible for a first issue (though that also assumes that's the final tally and that there aren't hundred more working their way back to Colt.)
That said, I won't be buying one, as I still have mine that was bought in the 80's.Comment

I never got the hype on the python, I’ve only had one .44 and it was a S&W. It was a light backpack gun that I wish I would have keptComment

This is why I never buy the first year production of mechanical products. I always wait until the 2nd or 3rd year of production when the problems have been discovered and corrected/improved."Show me a young conservative and I'll show you a man without a heart. While it carries an old name Colt hasn't made this gun before. The lockwork is much different than the original. Although, the hand and rebound lever, interaction with the cylinder is pretty much the same.
I think Colt either hogged out too much room inside the sideplate, or the hand is too thin and has room to move left. Either way, same result with a loose screw.
There's a term in mechanical manufacturing for what happens when part A must interact with Part B and turn Part C - tolerances tend to increase and must be managed as more parts interact. I think that's what happened with the Python.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment
