That one thing would add a lot of value to the RIA's... if they did a quick dehorning before they finished them. Maybe they newer models already have smoother safeties. The safeties on a Match FS are sharper than I'd like.

I contemplated buying an RIA, but that's what turned me off. Lots of sharp edges.

Love shooting both of them.

My TAC 5 was the first pistol i ever bought. I treat it like it is a LB. Lovingly clean it and never lay it down without a soft cloth under it.It is beautifully adorned with custom dbl diamond walnut grips. I would not trade it for a designer pin striped 1911.

You guys are seriously tempting me into picking up the stainless RIA or the Match RIA from turners. Lord I hope my Browning sells on consignment soon.

Weirdly enough I kind of had the same thought when I handled one recently. I wonder how much a local pistol smith would charge for that. Might not be worth it on a $650 pistol but ya never know.

I checked out the Stainless at Turners recently,nice lookin pistol.

I picked up a tactical a year or so ago and I have never shot it. Some one needed money and for what I paid, it looks like a decent gun.

When USI opens back up, I will see how good it shoots, otherwise, it just sits.

I do not understand the sharp edges complaint ?. Maybe the GI model ?.My TAC 5 fits me like a glove. The more i shoot it the more accurate me and the gun get.After about 5 trips out to the range i can consistently put 4 out of 5 rounds into a 5 inch circle at 15 yards. good enough for me.

I never would have bought a RIA, until I went to the range with a Filipino coworker. He brought 2 and I shot them. Wow. He did say that he did a little work to them but not a lot. After I shot them and said I will be buying one soon, he told me that the 2 that he brought were no where near his best RIA 1911 at home.

I now own one and waiting for a meet up with him so he can show me how to fine toon it.

Eight years ago I picked up a RI standard 1911A1 because it was cheap and I was curious about how it would perform. I still have that gun and it has had a metric ton of rounds put through it with no issues whatsoever. The only thing I did to it was to replace the smooth grips with a set of diamond checkered stocks.

I don't think there is a better value on the market today for a decently rugged 1911.
