    No.

They really are the same platform. They have a trigger and slide stop and thats it. They function the same. Find me someone who can shoot one really well and not the other and you will be looking at someone who hates one of the companies so much it effects their performance.

Many people dislike Springfield because of some of the political stuff they have pulled in the past and those people are not wrong for disliking them over it. Also, the glock is the better gun.

          Detrimental....yes.

If you are talking a critical situation where intuitive split second draw, aim, fire.....its the old saying, "Beware the man with one gun"

Of course you are going to be better with one platform, especially if you practice and its an extension of your arm.

I see the difference bumping back and forth between Glock Gen 3's and Gen 5's....but I'm a lefty.

When i was new many years ago I rented all the platforms that interested me and that my local range offered then brought the one i shot as well as hand fitment the best in my price range at the time: Sig Pro2022. Looking back as an experienced enthusiast I should've bought the Glock 19 gen 3 first imho as it checked many boxes for me and was my most recent last new purchase that ended up being a favorite of mine!
