I had a M11 when I lived in AZ years ago. It was the cool factor that I want at that time and I don't see any other reason why I bought it.
Full-auto M11, is another story; fun to shoot , but hard to control.

Sorry to bump this, BUT is it true that the Masterpiece Arms MAC clones are legal as long as they have a 10 rd mag, and a non threaded barrel?

Can I just go to AZ and buy one and bring it back if I follow those rules or what?

As long as they are not listed, which they shouldn't, then all you have to do is comply with the features list.

12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
        (4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
        (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
        (B) A second handgrip.
        (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
        (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.
So, with a non-threaded barrel, you should be ok. You are only restricted to using 10-round mags if you didn't own any before the ban. Any 11+ round mags that you may have owned before the ban could be used legally in it.

Can I just go to AZ and buy one and bring it back if I follow those rules or what?
As a CA-resident, no, you could not go to AZ and buy one to bring back. You could pay for one and have it shipped to a CA FFL to have it DROSed to you.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

          1) What if I have an AZ Identification Card with an address on it?

          2) Can the threaded barrel be grinded off to comply?

          3) Are 10 rd mags for these easy to find, im assuming they are not.

After recieving it, the CA 01-FFL dealer will refuse to DROS it to you and will send the pistol back, because it is not on the approved list.

You can make your own really easily...

And I still believe that the MAC Ingram M11 is not banned, the list states that the M-11 is banned, not the M11.

Punctuation counts in legal doccuments (just my opinion)

Anyway, I know that the AJAXARMS pistols are 100% legal

It would be very easy to do a single shot conversion to mac type pistols for importation into the state if you were serious about having a factory gun.

If you have dual-residency, then you could buy it as an AZ resident, while in AZ. Now, importing into CA is the issue. Are you a personal handgun importer if you were already a CA resident when you purchased it in AZ? Can you fill out the personal handgun importer form? Is it required? I dunno.

Haven't looked. But if you bought one, while you were residing in AZ, you should be able to modify to a 10-round mag.

Well I dont know if I technically have dual residency...I have an ID card with my buddies address which I told the DMV that I live there as a vacation home, which is true. But I never filled out any residency forms...are there any?

And what is a personal handgun importer form? Where do you get one from?

This is the federal law that applies and AZ may have some requirements as well. I don't live in AZ so I am not up on their regs.

The real question is WHY? MACs are cool when full auto (shot 'em) -- as semis they are just clunky and inferior to 9 and 45 pistols. Get an airsoft MAC . I have a old (before they had orange muzzles) MAC-10 from replica models. Feels just like the real thing without the legal hassles.

They sell 10 rd mac mags but the price is ridiculous for them.
I have 3 macs all grandfathered and and hi cap mags for them. I dont shoot them they are 2 bulky but il never sell them. I think my mags are 50rders if somebody actually needs a 10 rd im willing to dissasemble my hi caps cut the spring to make it 10 and put a hollow block inside so they cant be converted back after i crazy glue the plate.
Its not an assault weapon its my peace keeper.
