My take on it is that the hole looks worse, but just as the new Python will be overall a better gun then the old ones so is the modern day Smiths.

This is coming from a guy that owns a 586-3 and a 686-4.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

The lock bothers me just a tiny bit because it's like a mutation that was forced onto the gun after the fact. The gun was never designed with it, and the lock doesn't do anything for the function of the gun, other than to satisfy some idiotic safety requirement. So just from a mechanical/functional perspective, it kinda makes me feel uncomfortable when I look at it.

I bought one of the newer no-lock J-frames for CCW just so I wouldn't have to look at the lock.

The lock by itself is not a problem and it can be removed easily, with plugs readily available so no dirt gets in. It's what the lock represents and why it's there in the first place that some of us have an issue with.

Hillary hole is worse. It's a political thing. The actual lock mechanism doesn't bother me.

at least there is ONE option with the Hillary hole and i did it with both of my Smith & Wessons - plugging it doesn't make it go away, but, over time you really don't even notice it
