    FSC and Inheritance Question

Hello, I will soon be inheriting a hand gun from my Father, and want to get my Firearm Safety Certificate before I take possession. The part I am confused about is the safe handling demonstration. The gun store I called said that since I will not be purchasing a gun, I could come in, take the test, and if I pass, be issued the certificate with no safe handling demonstration. Then I believe I can take possession of the gun, file a intra-familial form with the DOJ, and be done.

In this circumstance, can anyone confirm that I won't need to perform a safe handling demonstration during any of this? Thanks!

    That is correct.

Go to LGS and take the test, pass and get your FSC.

Get your inheritance, sorry for your lost, and fill out the OpLaw form and pay the fee.

Take your new gun out shooting in memory of your loved one.

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

If your family is here no safe handling get your fsc and file Oplaw and pay 19 bucks no ffl involved.

FAQs What is the Firearm Safety Certificate Program? What are the exemptions from the Firearm Safety Certificate requirement? If I already have a Handgun Safety Certificate, will I still need a Firearm Safety Certificate? Will I need a Firearm Safety Certificate if I begin a long gun transaction prior to January 1, 2015, but don’t take possession of the long gun until after December 31, 2014? Can I get a Firearm Safety Certificate prior to January 1, 2015? How will I be able to obtain a Firearm Safety Certificate? How much will the Firearm Safety Certificate cost?

I just checked the DOJ web site, and it appears to be silent on the requirements re a safe handling demonstration. The safe handling requirement applies to firearm purchases, not taking the test and getting the certificate. Two separate actions. No gun handling is required to get the certificate.

You can go to pick up the firearm. He can come to you no problem.
