To update this thread, yes, Colt is making a new Python. Already in production, and being shipped to distributors. Release is scheduled for Jan 2, 2020. Colt has been tight lipped about this gun, and I could find no pictures of it yet online. Retail is said to be in the low to mid 2K range, depending on options.

The question is, will this be a faithful reproduction of the original, or a tarted up Cobra? We will see in a couple of weeks....

Anyone aware of any recent rumors on a new Python to go along with the Cobra and King Cobra. Most of the hits on this subject were just after Shot Show 2019. Wondering if anyone has heard any recent rumors.

For low to mid 2k? They will charge that, but you just pay for the name. Sort of like buying a Colt SAA for $1900 or an Uberti of the same type for $450.

        Low $2k?
Are they only making 7 of them? I’m skeptical of that price point - if they are going to reach that far, they better offer an exact and faithful replica of their glory days wheelguns (and no Hi-Viz front sight for goodness sakes!)

Is it possible original Colts were Made in USA with USA materials and the new Colts of old models are Made in USA with globally sourced materials (ahem, mainly chinese)?

It will probably be like the King Cobra and not even be on the original size frame.

True, but you either own the real deal or you don’t. As for a Python,I doubt it will be a Royal Blue finish, probably only in stainless.

FWIW this is purported to be a pic of the new Python to be released in January.

It’s only roster approved if it’s manufactured the same as the samples approved for the CA roster. What can they deviate from the approved sample? Finish only right?

Revolvers can and do get added to the roster.

                        That pic certainly looks real.

I agree. To make this work, they need to be the exact same design, grips, measurements, etc. Made from their Custom Shop, hand fitted and hand finished with a match trigger, adjustable sights, etc. IN THE USA. Then I can see this gun earning its place in the $2k gun world.

At that price, I will spend more and get an original!
