    Colt Delta

Has anyone handled, shot or owned a new model Colt Delta? I was a big fan of them when the first came out years ago, but I know Colt's quality has gone done over the years. I'm wanting to order one but want to make sure it isn't junk.

I've been thinking about getting a new Colt myself. I still love my old Combat Elite but for some reason I have been wanting another Colt.

I don’t think Colts quality has gone downhill over time, I think it’s always been hit or miss and today’s guns are probably better.

I own two Colts both made in 2016, they are better then any of the old Colts I use to own back in the 80’s and 90’s.

Im game on a Colt 1911 too, and want to know when did Colt 1911 go down in quality. Are there some "Golden Year" vintages regarding Cold 1911 one should be aware of. I'm thinking of a 45 in stainless.

I had one of the last stainless Colt Commander models that was on the roster. It was very well made. It was as accurate as my Dan Wesson CBOB.
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

I own three Delta’s. An original variant, the return edition that came out around 2008-2009ish and then the latest edition. I like the latest edition the best because of an aluminum trigger and skelontized hammer. But it shoots the same as the other two and I can’t tell any significant difference, but cosmetically. They are all fantastic guns and ive hunted more animals with my first generation model than any other handgun I own and before the 10mm craze really took off in this country. They are fantastic pistols, extremely accurate and I’d never get rid of any single one of them.
The comment was about recent Colt quality.

Are you going to be fixing all the other generic comments about Colt's quality in this thread?

ETa: I own several Colt's pistols from later years' manufacture. They are all made better than the older series '70's, earlier '80's, etc. Thy can still make mistakes, but modern manufacturing techniques are much better than the "good old days." Changes in techniques (and location) are why many Colt and other brand pistols are no longer on the roster (for those that don't know).

So while we are talking about 10mm Colts....

Price check, new in 1990s package, Colt 10mm single stack magazines.

I had a first year of production Delta Elite and although I loved it, the newer ones can handle heavier loads without damaging the frame, whereas the originals had problems with cracks.

The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

I bought a Delta Elite a year or two after they 1st came out (1990?)after shooting a buddy's Delta. That guy put his thru hell, I swear he was trying to break it with the handloads he fed that thing. Neither of us ever had an issue (although I didn't/dont abuse mine) Great guns, go buy it!

This^^ except I haven't seen any newer semi-auto Colts that were anything but poorly fit rattle-traps. My 2017 Gold Cup National Match 9mm included.

Thay said, the 2017 Cobra I recently bought for a very good price seems pretty well made, so there's that.
