So what's the real deal here, guys?

Looks just like the M17 Commemorative Edition, but hopefully cheaper...

The E-mail I got on them says that they are :
"an extremely limited number of authentic M17s originally issued by the U.S. Army and fielded during the initial domestic and in-theater deployment of the Modular Handgun System. These unique, one-of-a-kind firearms feature the original coyote controls, the original government-issue markings and serial numbers, along with the U.S. Army specified front and rear sights. As these were fielded by the U.S. Army their condition will vary, making each one uniquely different"

      So definitely used guns.
You guys actually have 9MM in stock????
      And it's How Much????

Kinda short in the game to be surplus’s already, I don’t think the Army has finished issueing them to all the units yet let alone the other branches.

Ok that explains it^, these are probably guns used in the roll out for training and testing.

So from what I'm surmising from the promotional video, these were the first batch of M17's released to the Army that were then sent back to Sig Sauer due to the company winning an arguement that it would be cheaper and faster to make M17's for them with black control surfaces (safety, slide release, takedown lever) and a different finish on the slide than from before, and the Army deciding it was easier just to hand the old pistols in rather than get them converted by Sig.

Heck, if anyone wants an "original surplus" M17, now might just be the chance to do it, or else your most likely going to have to wait another 20-25 years when they finally start replacing the M17 with something newer to get another shot at some surplus service pistols.

Hilarious that the Army wants to be stylish, wanting black controls, bad enough to trade in their old guns. If this is costing taxpayers, someone in a command position needs a beating.

Oh, you know this has already cost taxpayers way more than it should have. Sig is just selling off test guns to make even more profit....

It's also possible Sig took them back happily, giving the army whatever it wanted, knowing full well they could sell these special limited edition, ultra rare, if you don't buy them now they're going back in the safe, unique, one of a kind, issued / unissued handguns.

I think we are paying $260 per gun IIRC under contact to Sig.

Oh man, I am so in on this if I see one out here in CA...

I emailed Sig and asked if they will sell any of these through the military discount program.
