I remember hearing somewhere that... "Pick something, have a good reason, practice it, then shut up..."

I'm not a boomer and I didn't ask which was best. I don't even know why some of us are getting their panties in a bunch over this topic. Lack of "trigger" discipline, I guess.

I power stroke to keep the barrel on target and in theory keep uniform muscle memory across different platforms.

I thought this debate would have a clear winner but man this really turned into a Glock Vs. 1911 type of cluster$#@& of a thread very interesting.

Slide stop is faster, doesn't break your firing grip, is the same motion as hitting the bolt release on an AR.
          Can DI AR's run dirty?

Glock can be slide released too. I traveled to visit a buddy some years back, and they were holding a match so I decided to shoot. I only had a glock 26 with me but lots of Border Patrol shot this match so I could borrow extra mags. Sitting in the living room there's no way I can drop the slide with my left thumb, I've tried. But in the heat of battle, in the middle of a match, I guess the adrenalin flowed and I dropped the slide a few times when it went to slide lock because of the tiny 10 round mags.

The slingshot method is universal to all semi auto handguns, so simplifies training. less to go wrong or think about.

Some guns like Walther PPk have no slide stop, some have it to rear of gun like Sig 226, some in middle like 1911, etc.

Slingshot does require two hands, so you also need to practice one handed release with your model of gun, including weak hand.

No single technique is “best”, you must learn many techniques and apply the ones that fit your situation.

But slingshot is best place to start.

                    Sometimes I feel like a nut. Sometimes I don't.
Depending on the gun, I either use the slingshot or the slide stop.

Double wielding; requires rear sight tactical rack on belt.

Callouses on visible oblique abs very helpful, especially when rockin' beachwear.
