The G30S is an excellent concealed carry gun. Especially for mag limited Kalifornia. It's basically the same size and weight as a 15+1 G19. It feels the same when carrying too. Much better than carrying a G30SF.

You wouldn't think that the slightly thinner G36 slide would make much of a difference, but it does.
Wondering if you ever did this yourself. From what I've read on the interwebs some have functionality/reliability issues, some do not.

Because it has a larger grip area, I can get a better hold of the 30S than that of the 36, get a full eleven rounds of .45ACP, a decent trigger, and the reliability that goes along with Glock in general. I haven't compared the G30S to a lightweight 1911 commander-sized pistol (thinking Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry) as far as weight, but the overall envelope is similar in size.

            Just curious why not a 30 or a 30sf?

I have a friend that did it. No problems whatsoever. Carries it often.

I sold my Glock 30 and went with a Sig Sauer P227 SAS. Same size, same weight, same number of rounds, but it is a lot more accurate and has a double action which I consider much safer than a Glock.

While I have not sold my Glock 30s, I too much prefer my Sig 227. Much more comfortable to shoot.

                      The P227SAS is 50% heavier than a G30S!!

                      20oz (G30S) vs 30oz (P227 SAS) (empty weights)

I have a P227 Carry model, and it is way heavier and larger than my G30S which I have on my permit. There is no comparison. The P227, even the Carry model, carries more like a full size gun and the G30S carries like a subcompact G26. In fact a G30S weighs less than 1oz more than a G26! (empty)

If the P227 Carry was anything near the same size and weight as a G30S I would swap it out on my permit in a nano second, for the reasons you mention. But it simply isn't.

People keep talking about a G30 but this thread is about G30S. People wondering what the difference is need to
                      1) Recognize
                      2) Stop, just stop - talking about G30 or G30SF

The G30/G30SF is a great gun but it is not a G30S. The difference may seem insignificant on paper but on the waist it is huge. The G30S is basically like a G26 in 45ACP.

I overlooked that factor. My Glock 30 was a snappy recoil, but the recoil on my P227 SAS is much more of a push than a snap.

This thread is about the Glock 30S; some here seem to be as confused as a counter-fool in the local Turners. If you ever want a chuckle, try explaining to them that it is not a 30SF, or a 30.
