The 30S came out after the roster got tightened up with more requirements. It was the last Gen 3 variant IIRC, and was not out in time to be grandfathered.

      So it is off roster.

The 30S is conspicuously missing from that list.

Okay I see, the small s in the OP threw me off, I though he was talking plural.

Because it's way too dangerous for non exempt peons like us, I'm ok with it because I like to be as safe as they tell me to be...

I really like the way the G30S feels, and IMO because of the narrow slide, it seems to be quick out of the holster. Mine has a rail, and appears to be a Gen3. Accuracy using Federal HST's is as good as in a pair of 21's I also use.

                  G30S is a little beast...10+1 of 45acp and barely bigger than a G26.

                  Comfortable to carry, shoots well

The Glock 30 (Gen3) was added to the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale before specific CA required safety features were required.

Glock utilized an exemption to get the OD frame variant of the Glock 30 (Gen3) and Glock 30SF (Gen3) listed on the Roster.

Glock attempted to utilize the same exemption to get the Glock 30S, but it was rejected due to not qualifying for the exemption.

The Glock 30S utilizes the frame of a Glock 30SF and the slide of a Glock 36.

                    However...
Because the Glock 30S has a different barrel and components of the firing mechanism than the Glock 30 and Glock 30SF, it does not qualify as an exempt variant of the Glock 30.
Because the Glock 30S has a different magazine well and magazine release mechanism than the Glock 36, it does not qualify as an exempt variant of the Glock 36.

Which means, in order to get listed on the Roster, it is required to have a chamber load indicator, magazine disconnect mechanism, and microstamping array.

You are not missing much on this one. It's just a 30SF lower with a 36 upper.

Compared to the 30SF, save a little width and weight on the upper but the fattest/widest is still the frame.

You can back-door a G30S. Buy a G30SF, then buy a G36 complete upper from Gunbroker. Put the G36 upper on the G30SF lower and voila!

The G30S is an excellent concealed carry gun. Especially for mag limited Kalifornia. It's basically the same size and weight as a 15+1 G19. It feels the same when carrying too. Much better than carrying a G30SF.

You wouldn't think that the slightly thinner G36 slide would make much of a difference, but it does.

I have a 30s, paid the California premium, etc. I Shot it once and decided it was not for me. Substantial recoil and muzzle blast. Certainly more than I like to shoot. Now a safe queen. To each his own I guess.

...or you can buy a 29SF and add an actual 30S slide from GB. Then you have two calibers.
