Why can't I find any info here about the Baikal IZH35M?

I recently bought one and am wondering if some years were better than others with regards to better metal than others?

Because that is a very unique pistol designed for a very specific group of people. I bet if you find yourself a forum dedicated to Olympic or other target shooting groups you'd get much better responses.

FWIW...
The Baikal IZH35M is the 3rd generation version, which began production in 1987.

In 2008, new production versions were renamed the MP-35M due to corporate restructuring of the Izevsk Mechanical Plant.

The only reported difference between the IZH35M and the MP-35M is the name/markings.

The Baikal IZH35 & IZH35M are make/model listed on the CA DOJ BOF Olympic Target Pistols exemption list.
^This makes them exempt from CA unsafe handgun laws [PC 32105(c)] and CA assault weapons laws [PC 30515(d)(3)]. [11 CCR 5455(b)(1)]

A friend of mine has one and he loves it. It is indeed very accurate pistol with decent trigger and shoots well with good ammo. The metal, unfortunately, is not of the best quality, and parts are scarce, so don't use any HV or hotter ammo, just regular standard velocity.
