Very nicely said sir! Couldn't have said it better. I believe you can apply your statement in every aspect of life. Aure enough I will never go back to the gun shop I visited. Made me realize just how negative some people are. That is with everything though, car snobs, fitness snobs, motorcycle snobs lol. Learned a lot from this thread! Cheers.

The grip texture patterns on the MAPP are pretty ugly though, hahah.

With the polymer MAPP, you lose the accuracy edge that a full-legnth internal slide rail adds to the metal CZ frames. On the Witness/Tanfo, the slide rides in a pair of short steel inserts similar to a lot of polymer framed guns. The dust cover area doesn't retain the slide rails at all, it just slips in there with a little clearance. You can even see the slide protruding up a bit in the pic (that's normal).

It aiin't a P10C... but it is a polymer framed clone that is on-roster. Some might even hold 20 rounds thanks to Freedom Week.

Now I have clearer view of the MAPP. I am thinking of getting the compact or shorter version though. Correct me if I am wrong but does that say "Made in Italy" in the side of the gun. Haha the grips are not to my liking but hey! They can be worse right? One thing I forgot to ask about is accuracy also. Is it enough to make you like or dislike the gun?

Tanfoglio is an Italian company. They made a deal with RIA to put the parts together and distribute the MAP MAPPS in certain areas IIRC. It is a Witness, which is a well respected affordable pistol line.

You can't tell what grips you like till you shoot it or at least handle some guns. The MAPP has a very slim grip which would be great for smaller hands. Slimmer than any CZ I own.

If you have not even seen any pistols in person, do that. Don't go strictly on price. That's pretty silly. Yeah I was joking about the ugly texture, but the grip is pretty comfortable and the trigger in SA is on-par with other good clone triggers like Jericho 941's and better than a lot of sub $600 CZ guns.

If YOU can shoot a pistol well, it is accurate.

I own three RIA 1911s. They have functioned flawlessly.

Personally, I think that the people that talk bad about them are repeating internet lore and don't have much first-hand experience with them.

If a perfect finish and a "name brand" are important to you...then go spend your money on a high-end 1911. If you want a solid 1911 that is inexpensive and reliable...the RIA is a good option.

I had a MAP1 for a while. It was a great gun. I sold it in favor of another Tanfoglio designed gun.

                  Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

True, I've got 2 RIA's a 45 Tactical ( which also sports an Advantage Arms 22lr conversion when needed) with the old style "wallboard" logo on the slide and a 38 Super which also sports a 9 mm bbl when I want it to, that has the newer small logo illustrated in this photo. I really don't care one way or the other about the logo, the pistols work are reliable and I've had great customer service when needed. Did I mention they are very expensive??

To the previous post above. I would love to get the 1911 in 9mm, but as far as I know there are none in the CA roster. I heard about the .38 super and 9mm conversation is possible but it would take some work with a gun smith. Passed by the ammunition section earlier today at WM to browse some prices and I am pretty sure they are the best in town. 230 rounds of .45 ACP for $60 or so. Where do you guys with .45s purchase ammo?

BTW this is the MAPP I am considering.

I own a RIA 1911 FS with the target sights. I'm very happy with it and don't regret buying it. I looked at Springfield and thought I'd go that way until I took a closer look at the Rock Island. Had a friend who shoots 1911's competitively try mine and he liked it.

Cost to get a RIA Match is about the same as a SA Milspec IIRC... the RIA is a lot more gun for the the price IMHO.

Just an FWIW comment the 38 Super to 9mm conversion is simple, barrel, link, and spring. I took mine to my gunsmith "just in case" he said it was a drop in conversion, no big deal he polished the ramp just for something to do! You can also use the 38 super mags for the 9mm OR you can buy extra 9mm mags. My 38 Super with the 9mm conversion using 38 super mags OR a couple 9mm mags I bought eats anything I've fed it without an issue.
It's such a popular conversion sometimes you have to wait for another shipment of barrels to get stateside and out to distributors from the PI! I think I got my barrel from Sarco.

But regardless I think you'd be satisfied with any of the RIA products, I have been without any complaints, you can also email their gunsmiths down in Pahrump, NV for info.
BUT the caveat is IF you have issues with the 38 Super which you converted to 9mm and want to send it in for warranty work it has to go in the 38 Super "Cal Roster Legal" configuration..... I think. This is what I heard but I cannot swear to it. Anyone else with info on this issue please chime in!
Kinda like replacing that part one have modified in the Phoenix Arms HP22A before send it in for work, I keep a spare one of those around.
We're outta CA now so I don't have to worry about the CA Roster any longer......yet, we'll see which way New Mexico goes!
