    Llama 1911?

I've had one of these things forever (since about 1995 or so) and have had it in storage back in AZ. I'm thinking about going back home (I'm still a resident...I'm active military) and bringing it back here. I know...I'd have to register it

I haven't fired it yet (maybe a couple rounds back in the day...but I can't remember). Anyone ever fired one of these? And how much do you think it'd be worth if I decided to sell it out here?

That was my first handgun Always shot low and left.... until the guy at the gun range shot it and it was pretty damn accurate after that.

Sold it to a friend for $150 (I think) 5 or 6 years ago.

I bought a Llama IXA 45 ACP out of curiosity in the 80's because it was dirt cheap at $190 NIB. It was pretty rough and not that serviceable out of the box. I had a basic action and reliability job done on it and after that it shot quite well with good reliability. Many parts of these older Llamas are NOT interchangeable with 1911's (including the mags, if I recall correctly); something to keep in mind.

I think they use Beretta 92 mags? I saw one Llama posted for sale awhile ago.

That's a completely different gun you are thinking of and different caliber (9mm). This thread is about the Llama 1911 clone.

I remember that this one did take the standard 1911 mags. But I'm not sure if all the parts were interchangeable. I'm gonna go grab it this week.

A few parts are interchangeable, but most are not. There's a complete list somewhere on m1911

I had the double-stack lower version and liked it a lot - mine functioned great, but they can be hit or miss. If you can, shoot it before you buy it. Was dirt cheap, but I sold it since she never got taken out in favor of other shooters. Wasn't worth the money to replace the standard sights.

My recollection on the mags could be faulty as I got rid of it some time ago. I distinctly remember having mag issues and that the stock mags worked better than 1911 mags.

I have a Llama Minimax .40 and I dig it. After a 2-year search, I finally found a couple replacement mags (the one that came with gun was cracked) and now it shoots great. Its heavy, and not the most accurate, but I like it anyway.

BTW, its worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. If its in really nice shape, you should be able to get $300-$400 for it pretty easy.

The guy at the gun store who did the transfer of my gun to my friend told me mine was a 1911 when we were trying to figure out what model it was for the paperwork... and it was a 9mm.

Maybe I had a different one than the OP is talking about...... if so, forget I was here.

Mine was reliable as anyone could want. Never bobbled a round, always fired everything fed into it.

It just couldn't hit the broad side of a battleship.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero
