9mm LCR practical barrel length = 3.5 inches

Reloads are faster than speed loaders. I have an LCR for sale if you are intrested.

Here's another trick for 9mm revolvers I just learned today.

10 round chargers (stripper clips) for 5.56mm rifle ammo can be used as a substitute for a 9mm revolver speed strip!

The process of using a charger as a 9mm revolver speed loader is a little different than using a typical plastic speed strip, but still effective.

I think moon clipped 9mm is one of the best possible loads for a snubbie revolver.

The short ejector rod of a snubbie revolver can handle the short OAL of a 9mm cartridge better than a long .38 Special cartridge.

Absolutely, that's one thing I dislike about my .38.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the ARX type lightweight polycopper fluted bullet in 9mm, might be a good lower recoil option for a 9mm revolver. The round nose bullet profile certainly makes loading a full moonclip into the revolver cylinder easy.

For carry, I’d go with LCR. They’re light, and have one of the best DA triggers on the market. I collect 9mm revolvers, and SP101 is on my short list, but other guns keep pushing it down.

I own one of the Ruger LCR's in 9mm, it is built on the 357 Mag LCR frame. For practice I use Winchester White Box ammo, but do have issues with bullet pull on the 4th and 5th rounds. For carry I use Hornady 115gr 9mm Critical Defense, which has a canellure and is crimped. Carrying a x5 9mm round reload on full moon clip is bulky in the pocket however.

                Cheers,

Although I can't conceal carry living in LA County, I bought a Ruger LCR 9mm couple years ago.

Really like it. Had already owned a .38 LCR so figured I'd try the 9mm.

The triggers on both are actually really smooth. I'm very impressed with the LCR trigger-- better than any J frame I have shot.

If I could carry-- that'd probably be the one.

I really like the safety factor of a revolver but getting good expansion from non +P is weak. I have found only Federal Hydroshock will expand reliably for me and even then expansion is not that great.

I was considering a 9mm revolver for the higher velocity but I'm wondering with such a short barrel what the actual advantage would be, the SP101 is 2.25". I'm also wondering about reloading moon clips vs speed loaders as I have never shot a revolver with them.

                    Experiences or advice welcomed.
. Sounds like the answer to your question is to get the LCR

In an LCR, the 9mm splits the difference between .38 +p and .357 in terms of power. .357 is quite snappy in LCR I find, the 9mm is snappy, but much more controllable for me and able to get shots off faster. I didn't want to go into anything exotic like a .327, but that round is no slouch either. The LCR is my pocket carry gun and it serves this purpose well.

Del Fatti PMC is how I carry extra rounds. Anyone ever try these? http://shopruger.com/9mm-Moon-Clip-C...uctinfo/90552/

Running 124 +p Speers or 135 +p Critical Duties, have experienced no crimp jump. Generally shoot 124gr NATO as practice stuff, no crimp jump on those rounds (various mfgerers, S&B, Winchester, Geco) either.

LCR in 9mm is an awesome and because it uses the most common caliber, even when I'm not using it as my primary, there is very little reason not too bring it along. Always wanted a SW 940, but honestly, having shot both side by side, the LCR has a better trigger and is more comfortable too shoot. Although the 940 has a better story.

I have an SP101 in 9MM and one in .357 Magnum. The 9MM is my preferred carry piece (jacket pocket in winter). I've never had any round jump the crimp in the 9MM. The .357 is sufficiently snappy that I tend to limit myself to 125 gr. +P or 110 grain +P+ in .38; both are pretty much on par with the 9MM and the 9MM is quicker to reload. No opinion on the LCR, never owned one.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

The deal is done, bail has been paid but the 10 day mandatory sentence must go forth. I will reload in anticipation.

Seriously considering to buy SP101 9mm maybe in 2 years time. The price of 9mm is hard to beat, and a revolver in CA might be the way to go in the future.

So far I really like it. Some have complained about the brushed finish but I knew it wasn't a highly polished gun, however the way it is you could make it a mirror with a bit of time invested. Other than that the lock up, the cylinder play are solid as a rock. Nice little tank!
