You’re not going to CCW a Glock 40 so a lot of the velocities and energies you guys expouse ain’t gonna happen. Also, is any Glock as strong as a S&W revolver or a Redhawk or Blackhawk? No. The only think you get with 10mm over .357 is round capacity.

      Faster reloading, lighter trigger pull.....etc.

After one discharges 6-7 rounds of .357 or 10+ 10mm rounds at a target, is a slightly faster reload time THAT important? Chances are whatever you shot at is going to be dead or quickly dying. Hopefully.

The lighter trigger pull is important with senior citizens like my mom who could not pull the 357.

I have three 10mm pistols and the only time I would either one would be when hunting in areas where something dangerous might lurk. For personal defense against 2 legged animals I’d rather have a 40 or 45. For discreet carry 380, 38 Spl or 9mm will be it. Unless a squad of heavyweights are coming for me then the 10mm with Lehigh Xtreme Defense will be it. 180-200 JHPs at real 10mm pressures are snappy and definitely feel the recoil. 135 grain JHPs are still snappy, but less brutal in recoil compared to the heavier bullets.

I only see on average 50 fps difference in my 6 inch Long slide conversion on Glock 20 using Underwood ammo . Which is very consistent.
Underwood list 140 grain 357 mag at 1550 fps and 747 ftlbs
And Underood 140 grain 10mm 1500 fps and 700 ftlbs
So the numbers are right there. Sure going up and down Bullet weight may net you so More Fps or Ftlbs.

                      10mm handguns; interesting.
I have a late production Bren Ten API, with a stash of decent factory magazines; while a good shooter, it is relegated to the armory as a display piece. Spare parts are not easily found, and expensive.
If I wanted a 10mm, the Glock would be my choice. It is certainly more powerful than the .45ACP, but you usually pay for that in other areas. Neither am I sold on the 10mm for bears, but that is another topic.

Is the 10mm that much better then the 45acp?

Thanks for info, its much appreciated

It depends on what you mean by better.

If you want a heavy, slow-moving, bullet, you almost can't beat the 45ACP.

10mm has better sectional density and should penetrate deeper. It also should be flatter shooting: Less drop per distance traveled than 45ACP.

Then I worked weekends at a manufacturing business that had 1/4 million-dollar machines, I either carried a Colt Officers 45ACP or J-Frame 38 Special. I did some tests and I felt the 45ACP and 38 Special would do less damage to the equipment than a 9mm or 357 Mag. At about 45 degrees angle neither a 45ACP nor a 38 Special bullet wouldn't penetrate the steel electronics enclosure. Head on at 90 degrees, the 9mm penetrated deeper, and would most likely damage more electronics boards.

I know some people don't care about a 1/4 million-dollar machine and claim their life is worth it, but I didn't have permission to carry a gun at work. I just did it because I was alone.

A 10mm would destroy the equipment.

                        I do carry a 10mm Glock 20 in the forest/woods.

You can shoot 40S&W out of a G20 as long as the cartridges get fed into the chamber from the magazine, so the extractor holds the cartridge against the breach face so the firing pin can hit the primer. You can't just drop a 40S&W cartridge in a 10mm barrel and expect it to work.

If you plan to reload, you can use 40S&W brass with 10mm load data and use it in a 40S&W conversion barrel.
