    10mm

Hey guys, I'm going to buy another handgun to list on my CCW. I plan to list my Glock 26 and one of my 1911s. I'm thinking about getting another Glock, this one in10mm (not sure which model yet) I will reload for it. Is it worth adding the 10mm or should I stick with the 45acp +p loads.

I've read so many good things about the 10mm.

    What do you guys think?
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

    I got into 10mm because I found a S&W 1076 at a decent price & I'd always been curious.

It's fun at the range. It is loud, flashy & powerful. I'm not sure how much advantage it would have over .45ACP as a defensive cartridge.

FWIW a SIG P220 still sleeps by the bed.

      10mm is hard to beat . 10 rds to 33 rds. Glock 29 or 20 . Run the G 20 mags in a 29 for better grip.
Glock 10mm either the 29 or 20 are my Carry /woods /boat gun. I run a 21 Lbs spring in the G20 allows me to Run my long slide and 22 lb spring in the G29 .either will cycle 40S@W to the Hottest 10mm available. Add your choice of sites and holster and your good to go.

I got into 10mm with the off roster purchase of the Czech Grand Power P40 and P40L with the rotating barrels. The rotating barrel helps with recoil but they still kick with strong loads.

So guys, is it worth adding another caliber?
Is the 10mm that much better then the 45acp?

Thanks for info, its much appreciated

Yes, it’s that much better than the .45 and you can also shoot 40s&w out of a glock 10mm. Which makes it nice when ammo is scarce.

I enjoy the piss out of my G20SF, only about 6 months old and it comes out of the range bag first every time, shoots it all from 140gr to 220 gr. Thinking about picking up a G29 to add to the permit.

I LOVE 45ACP, but note the difference in this Underwood general range ammo:

              10MM 180 GR FMJ: 1200 FPS, 625 ft lbs.
              45ACP 220 GR FMJ: 900 FPS, 415 ft. lbs.

              10MM 180 GR JHP: 1300 FPS, 676 ft. lbs.
              45ACP +P 185 GR JHP: 1200 FPS, 592 ft. lbs.

Not saying one is better than the other, because I love both and shoot 45ACP much more often than 10MM. But the whollop is totally discernable between the two.

                Do it.

10mm is reloader's round. If you can consistently feed it, it'll be worth while. You being a reloader should be no problem.

Not for CCW. It's empirically not even as good a stopper as .45. If you plan to carry it hiking and don't want to be hassled about how you carry it, okay. But otherwise it's no better.

What is the empirical data on this?

Okay, this is what i want to read. Please explain why its impractical.
I'm all about staying with the 45

I have your empirically not as good for you.

A reduced 10mm load consisting of a 180 bullet going down range at plus 1,100 fps will easily flatten anything a 45acp round can.

Most people who are on the fence about a 10mm are usually converts once they try one. And youll be surprised about the price of ammo, about the same as 45acp in the comparatively same types. I know because I actually buy both.

All good info, I thank you all...

I'm not worried about factory ammo cost, I'll reload for it. We all know how much money we save reloading our own..
