    Just bought a Ruger GP100

I really like this revolver. It's the Blued, 6" version. The DA trigger pull is a bit stiff, but it's manageable. It is an accurate gun.

Feels solid in the hand, and recoil with .357 rounds is a non issue.

Picked up a nice used 6" blued one with upgraded fiber sights a few months ago. Very solid shooter, like the heft, but I really don't like the DA trigger. Bad enough I might not keep it.

        Congrats

Down the road when it's time to change springs get the
WC kit; installed them in an older SP101, great upgrade.

I've had my blued GP 100 for a couple of years now and really like it, except like others have said, in DA the trigger is kinda hard. I almost always shoot in SA anyway. It's really accurate. I can hit 8" plates at 75 yds. all day using .357, using 38 spcl. is a little less accurate.

Sit down in front of the tv with the revolver. Double check that it`s unloaded. While you watch tv dry fire double action for an hour. Trigger will smooth out. Poor man`s gp100 trigger job.

Yep! Have a 4" SS version. Beefy to say the least. Soaks up big magnum loads easily. .38 Sp are powder puffs.

DA pull is gargantuan! Will soften a bit with dry fires and live rounds. After a few hundred rounds, your index finger will start looking like Popeye's forearm.

              Here's mine....

And it's a workout. I used to do repetitive dry fire as fast as I could until my trigger finger gave out. It might be sooner than you'd think.

Ruger GP100 was the first revolver I ever bought. I got the 4" stainless version.

Yes, they soak up recoil on .357 mag rounds so well it really is easy to shoot even hot ammo with.

Since I bought it around 10 years ago, I have added around 10-12 more revolvers to my collection, including a number of S&W Performance Center revolvers.

But, my trusty GP100 is always in my range bag. And regarding the trigger, just give it some time-- after a while my trigger became really smooth actually.

Crazy accurate gun-- I shot my friend's 6" version that you have and it was even more accurate with the longer sight radius-- just a great revolver. Enjoy!!!

Just like what everyone said, dry firing will help. Myself practices with laser cartridges and indeed over time the trigger pull softened. For whatever reason practicing with a heavy trigger on my GP100 pull improved my trigger pull with my G20sf. Love my GP will never part with this gun, it was my 1st, my 2nd and last the 20sf.

If you reload there a so many options for a 38/357 revolver. The nice clean holes a full wad-cutter makes are beautiful.

                              Full-lug or half-lug?
