PX4 Storm 9mm, pro and cons

    Who owns one?
IF you do, please provide your thoughts about it.
There are hundred if not thousands of videos about it, but you can't always know for sure they are NOT biased.

Had mine for a few years really like. The back strap can be changed for a better fit. The rotating barrel feels like its helps with recoil but I never think that full size 9mm are difficult to control.

The absolute worst thing about the gun is the safety the angled wings are in the way when you grab the slide serrations. There not sharp but they are uncomfortable to grab. I need to buy the low profile safety to fix the only major flaw I see with the gun. I like mine I say go for it.

Right now they are on sale at Turners for a great Price.

The PX4 is a reliable performer. But not necessarily any better than many other handguns put out by Glock, H&K, S&W, Springfield Armory, Etc.
For $425 it is a very good gun. I would pass at $500 or more.
Also, I would not buy this if you want to someday tinker with it. No aftermarket support other than sights, springs, safety levers and guiderods.
You, cannot get conversion kits to shoot 22 LR or switch 40 caliber to 9 MM

Like most Beretta's they are FAT/wide pistols.
The triggers have long, mushy travel and do not break crisply.
Unless you already love the pistol I would buy something else.
I have two, one in 9 MM and one in 40 cal. When I switch from my other pistols and pick up a Beretta (90-two, 92G-SD, PX4) i shoot low and left the first 3-4 mags, then the groups move to point of aim.

But, if you buy a PX4 it will perform well provided that the chamber is not too tight. My PX4 in 40 caliber has the tightest chamber of all my 40 caliber pistols. Some of my reloads using Hornady dies and in spec final cartridges would not pass the plink test in this pistol. That is until I polished the chamber well.

Many of the PX pistols have a weird outward bowing of the polymer frame above the area of the trigger (front to back) but high up by the slide- this is a casting issue they have and not a break or defect. It does not effect the function or reliability but it is visually disconcerting. Beretta does not think it is a defect,
Inspect the guns before purchase if you buy one if you want one without the "bulge".
One of the two I have has the bowing/bulge.

Not this weekend. Starting tomorrow when they open the store. There is a small allotment available. They will not be there when the "weekend" is here.

          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

For the price they are not bad guns. My only problem with it is the width of the slide. The action involves a rotating barrel and that kind of require slide to be a bit wider... but same can be said for the 92FS too.

I have one as my EDC (no "rotation" for me).
Zero malfunctions in tens of thousands of rounds, with the exception of one batch of 50.
I did install the low profile levers. The original levers didn't bother me at all.
Changing the levers also changes the gun from an F model (safety/decocker) to a G model (decocker-only).
Also utilizing the Talon Grip tape. After using the Talons, without them the gun now feels slippery to me.
Super easy to strip & clean.
I trust my and my family's life with it.

                Gun is slippery.
Also lack of holster support is annoying.

i've had my Px4 for about 5 years now - never had an issue with it, very reliable - it was my travel firearm when i lived in CA and my HD

since i moved i've replaced it with a couple of other smaller CCW firearms but it's still my HD firearm, that won't change anytime soon and i still have no qualms about using for concealed carry either - 15 round magazines are sure a plus

i made a few modifications to my Px4 - stainless guide rod, a steel trigger replaced the plastic coated trigger, low profile safety levers, decocker only type G configuration

I lucked out in that I make my own leather holsters.
For kydex I use alabamaholsters.com IWB and Blackhawk Serpa OWB.
I also have a Ramora holster that I use a lot.

Pros: they can be found used in the $300.00 - $400.00 range, decent aftermarket to take care of the sharp safety levers (and make them just decocker levers), decent trigger, decent ergonomics, accurate enough.

Cons: Ugly as sin, big for what it is (that might be what Beretta means in Italian...).

I'd say don't spend more than $350.00 on a used one, and you have a decent gun you won't mind losing if you have to actually use it and Johnny Law takes it as evidence.

In .40 it's my carry gun. Love the feel with talon grips, accuracy is great, recoil minimal and never a stoppage. Cons: none. BTW, I have the decocker version.
