They all look the same to me. Can you circle the part you're talking about?

That part right there is rubbing his hand under recoil. I call them hot spots. Spots that irritate the hand when shooting.

This is not unusual for any factory gun. The sharp edges and back edge of the thumb safety need to be reshaped and blended. Similar to this.

My old stainless Loaded 1911's thumb safety was a tad sharp along the bottom edge. Only bothered me when I flicked the safety on. So, I took a file and some sandpaper and broke the edge. After that, no problems (and I grew some man-calluses!). My current Les Baer is fantastic! The safety doesn't bother me a bit. It does feel like an aircraft carrier cuz it's so big, which I like. I find myself gripping it pretty hard when shooting.

I'd call DW and complain. I don't think it should be like that. It sits too high and they look like some hard edges.

Here's something from the Springfield catalog that meets your criteria!

My 9 mm Kimber stainless Target II has the same issue.

I honestly have no idea what you guys are talking about. I've been shooting 1911s since the late 70s, and never had an issue.

You guys ride your right thumb on TOP of the thumb safety, right?

I swapped all the MIM parts including internals, firing pin, spring, safety and MSH on my MCO, never had an issue since then, in fact I didn't have an issue before.

Sounds like you need a new safety and to have it blended by a gunsmith. I can do most gunsmithing myself but finishing edges and belt grinding is out of my wheelhouse since i don't have the proper set up at my house right now.

I'd have a gunsmith look at it if it's bothering you, or sell it and get a TRP since that's a better fit you apparently.
