I just picked up my G26 n Some Ammo. Wanted to see if it was painless as some said or a pain like others have said. If you’re picking up your firearm it may be a good idea to pick up ammo also as the ammo background check ride with the firearm background check. So no $1.00 charge on ammo (Hope that made sense) I’ve seen people discussing It but weren’t sure. I just did it at my LGS.

And, was it painless to add ammo to the firearm purchase?

People are actually buying "registered" ammo?Comment

Yes......but FYI....You can't take that ammo with you after the gun purchase.
You can only take possession of the ammo after the 10 day waiting period just like the gun.

MrsVMCJ-3 is going to be thrilled about this good news! Then said He unto them...
"and he that hath no 1911 designed by my servant John Moses Browning,
let him sell his garment and buy one."
And they said, "Lord, behold, here are two Glocks."
And He said unto them, "Meh, it's a good start."

You don't need to add ammo to the DROS. The DROS is the same background check as is done for the ammo. If you clear DROS, you've cleared for ammo purchase.
DOJ Website, 1st para; 4th bullet:
The person was approved by the Department to receive a firearm from the ammunition vendor, pursuant to Penal Code section 28220, if that vendor is a licensed firearm dealer, and the ammunition is delivered to the person in the same transaction as the firearm. In this scenario, the dealer will use the approved firearm eligibility check as the approval to purchase ammunition, and will submit the ammunition purchase to the Department during the delivery of the firearmComment

you dont save any money, most gun shops price the ammo at least a dollar or more higher than Walmart usually more than a dollar
Walmart sells a box of 9mm WWB for $17.87 for a 100 rd value pack
gun shops selll it for at least $5 higher for the same box of ammo, some even more if you buy from places like Bass Pro or BIG5
but at least you save the trouble of going through an extra background check.Last edited by omega; 07-05-2019, 11:21 AM.Comment
