The ammunition in the link refers to a FMJ (full metal jacketed) projectile, a type that is not primarily designed for hunting as much as it is designed for less-expensive target shooting in this case. To make a valid comparison to the 10mm, you would have to compare a FMJ projectile similar in weight, with a similar muzzle velocity. My understanding is that there are currently more suitable 10mm auto loads for hunting than there are .357 Sig loads for hunting.

From muzzle energy perspective only, most 10mm is about 600 ft lb, about the same as this 357 sig

      357 can not push 180gr

357 Magnum is better than both. 10mm is no slouch though. 357 SIG doesn’t even come close.

I think that listed data is wrong. 1541 FPS seems way out of spec for 125 grain bullets. That is 357 Magnum territory and 357 SIG is more like very hot 9mm in the 1200-1300 FPS range.

Nope...it is listed as 1542 FPS on PPU’s site. Odd...that is very hot ammo. I wouldn’t shoot that out of my guns.

357 sig 125 gun is near the same as 357 magnum. Great round. Wish it would have taken off. Would have loved it in a 1911

Have you considered .38 super then?

Underwood lists their 200 and 220 gr. Hard Cast 10mm loads as being right at 700 ftlb.
I would take a hot loaded 38 Super with heavy SWC type bullets over a .357 Sig. Though I would rather have a 10 mm for hunting.

.357 sig was developed to create a .357 magnum type load in an auto loader. Im not sure i would hunt 4 legged critters with though

OP, take a look at the last review on the page you posted:

"Ammo was supposed to have a muzzle velocity of 1541 fps according to specs, but my chrono showed a mean velocity of 1401 fps, not materially different from any of the Federal, Speer, etc. in the same caliber. On top of this is the fact that I have contacted Target Sports USA three times in the last month about this issue, and they have not bothered to get back to me. Disappointed all around with both the ammo, and the service."

1401 fps corresponds to 545 Ft lbs. Not a slouch, but not even close to advertised velocity.

IIRC the 125 gr. .357Mag is the number one, one shot stop round year after year.

The 357Sig was meant to recreate that rounds performance in an autoloader. Which it does.

What about a .44 mag? Curious minds here.
