    Ruger Single Six, Need help!

I have a few old handguns and wheels guns that I inherited, and really never gave them much attention over my polymer-framed toys.

    One is a Ruger Single-Six, serial # 329xxx
I cant seem to find any real info on this date.
it is marked .22 mag rf.

I am looking to part with my Single Six to explore new handgun adventures. Any help with dating or value will be greatly appreciated.
I will attach an Imgur link here: https://imgur.com/a/upjfql9

    Please! any help appreciated!

Your Single Six with it's Magnum RF cylinder and it's #329xxx serial number dates to 1961.

A very rough estimate (without having seen the firearm) of it's value would be in the ballpark of $350.00

What I can see of it in your pic, looks like it's in excellent condition. If it is I think it's worth at least as much as a new one, but I paid $425 near end of 2017 for one made in 63 in very good condition with both cylinders and an extra old model Super Blackhawk brass grip frame.

If your local to sac I’m interested at 350. That’s about what I see them go for. I would love to replace the one that was stolen from me years ago. This one would fit that bill nicely.

There had been no photo link in his post when I started typing.

Along with what TMB has said, and with the box, docs, 22LR cylinder and the overall condition, I'll have to concur with TMB's price estimation (my apologies to B&W). I paid just that for a convertible such as this last year.

Do you know if it's been sent back to Ruger for the transfer bar conversion or is it left unadulterated? If it is still stock I'd say it is worth $600 - $650 as it looks awfully clean.

My $0.02; keep it. You may prefer plastic guns today but nice old guns don't come around very often. It will only increase in value as an investment or, better yet, shoot it! They are great guns and a lot of fun. Plastic guns are a dime a dozen.

Just don't carry it with a round under the hammer if it isn't converted to the transfer bar.

You can easily check if the weapon has a transfer bar. With the gun unloaded, cock the hammer and then look from the rear of the gun. If you see a bar just below the firing pin, its been modified.

I also say, keep it. They are great shooters and very accurate, and a lot of fun.

As mentioned, if the gun does not have the transfer bar, do not allow a live round under the hammer. Load only five rounds.

you have the 22 mag only version of the single six made from 1959 thru 1962 which is less common
before they came up with the idea of dual cylinders S/S was available in either caliber 22 rf or 22 mag only that xtra cylinder did not come from the factory when gun was new added sometime later
other manufacturers like colt offered the same 22lr or 22 mag only
I would agree with barbarosa value

I have the bearcat version handed down from my Dad. Great guns for introducing kids or newbies to shooting.

I picked up a Single Six Convertible a few month ago out of a large firearms auction for $370. It wasn't as clean as this one, but damn close. So the $350 estimated value is solid and maybe a bit closer to $400??

OP's is an old model, looks like yours is a new model. I think the old model is worth more than new model and certain old models are worth even more.

Ruger still makes the new model. Old models are becoming a collector item.

From your pics it looks like you have both cylinders, box and paper work. The box looks a little rough but intact. Having all these items makes the gun worth a little more to a collector so your best bet is to post it in a few different forums and maybe Gunbroker. With its age and everything you have I would say $600 is reasonable go no less than $500.

                            ^^^this^^^^

It is strange, but the box could be worth a few hundred to a collector.
                            Depending on condition.

I see that the cylinder does not have any turn lines on it. That is great!
To keep it that way. When you bring it off of half cock, always take the hammer to full cock before you lower it back down.

If you have a transfer bar. you will get turn lines no matter what.

Also if it has no transfer bar. only load it with 5 rounds. You do this by loading one round skip a chamber, and then load the rest. Bring the hammer all the way back and when you lower it, it will be on an empty chamber.

The danger of loading 6 is that if it is dropped on the hammer it could fire.

                            Take care
