    ^^^THIS!!!

The Logman mod takes a few minutes with a file. It makes reassembly surefire and a breeze.

The other option is to use electrical tape to cover above (slide) and below (frame) and a thin plastic piece to push the slide stop pin in.

I have been eyeing one of those as well for my 1st 1911. Looking for the stainless finish. Congrats and let us know how it shoots .

I took the Dan Wesson to the range at lunch and, the jury is still out. I think I would like it better with wider grips. There was much more felt recoil in my hands than other 45s that I have shot. I was expecting the opposite.

Great choice-- congrats on your first 1911!!

They are addicting. I bought my first about 8 years ago and was not planning on buying any more 1911's as it has been 100% reliabile and shoots great.

But I now own 5 1911's. Still, that first SW1911 I bought many years ago is always in my range bag with me. As well as serving as my primary HD gun.

That DW will serve you well for many years/decades!!!

Nailed it. The Logman mod is the easiest and most effective way to avoid the idiot scratch and it makes reassembling the 1911 as easy as any pistol. You essentially file a notch in the slide stop that allows it to be simply pressed in. A few companies offer it standard on their parts, but I can't remember who off the top of my head.

VZ or LOK G10 grips offer the best fit and finish for a 1911 in my opinion.

VZ operator II grips. They feel good and give you awesome grip. I love mine. You can get slim line or standard width. Slim is only available with thumb notch while standard width is available with thumb notch or super scoop.

Shop custom 1911 grips with VZ Operator II texture (very aggressive). Our best selling texture for a reason, our G10 full-size grips are made in the USA.

Well... you will be hard pressed (financially! ) to add something better. I have 3 of the lesser Dan Wessons and they are about as good as it gets (IMO) without venturing into the big $$$ land of custom/semi-custom.

Of course, as we all know, a Ruger SR1911 is just as good, if not better, than a Les Baer!

Logman slide stop mod, used to do it on all my SA's because they were a PITA. Never took it this deep though.

I haven't used any aftermarket mods, but the first time field stripping and reassembling a pricey 1911 can be nerve wracking. I just used a piece of electrical tape as a precaution with my 1911's. Just think "straight in" rather than "up and in."

I could be wrong but i believe DW already have a beveled slide stop? Don't really feel like looking right now.
