The pleasure you get from building your gun, is greater than you would get buying a gun. For me, a high end Wilson gives me great pleasure to shoot. I do not have the time or skill to build the gun I can buy.The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either.

It depends. When I wanted guns for EIC/ CMP bullseye matches , all I cared for was good 4 LB trigger and 2 inches or less at 50 yards. For carry it was ALL about reliability. Depends what You want. I owned and own both. I carry over 25 years now. For anyone who ACTUALLY carries a pistol all the time , reliability with their carry ammo is always number one consideration. If I was getting another full size 1911 in .45 ACP for carry today , I would just get a Wilson CQB or SA PRO and be done with it. For Bullseye , I would ONLY go custom.Last edited by ap3572001; 02-13-2019, 11:21 PM.Comment

No way on these over-priced 1911s. That commercial dream ended decades ago. Save your money. Attend half dozen big pistol matches and see what works and what doesn't.
Hold onto your money. Patience will save you money and ultimately get the 1911 you want in due time.Comment

At least with a SA, you know the frame & slide are quality steal made by IMBEL. I wouldn't be surprised if the others were of Chinese or Philippine origin & QC.
Forty plus years ago, SA set the standard for commercial grade 1911s after Colt became disinterested with competing on price.Comment

Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.Comment
