STI Frames and SSE

2A Zone used to have a method for getting virgin frames into CA by building a bolt/break action and SSEing the pistol to you. At least that was my understanding. Does anyone know of shops doing similar transactions?

Manufacturing a semi auto is definitely not on the table. Nor is converting a single shot to semi. We won't do either. We could make a single shot, which is what we are thinking about. Just need to make sure everything is perfect and totally above board which is what takes forever.

Or buy a C&R 1911 from GunBroker and use that as the project base.

Help me understand what was the difference when taking a 80% and doing the same?
Didn't those also need to be built into a single shot to start and once completed they could be changed to semi auto?

Pretty sure people are doing it though, probably out of ignorance and confusion because tahts basically what was happening during SSE v1

...but then the regulations surrounding manufacture of a unsafe semi handgun changed. Its extremely clear that CA DoJ thinks that conversion to semi of an off-roster handgun is illegal. Whether or nor they are correct is yet to be determined.
