    Beretta + thin grips.
People keep saying that the G17 fit their hand better because they never held Beretta 92 with thin grips.

It has to be 9mm!
I've shot many Glocks (Gen 3 or older incl 9mm, .40 and 10mm) and don't own any. It's just not my cup of tea. It's a personal thing.

If you're on the fence, you can pick up used G17s and 92FS's. If you don't like either, you can sell them and recoup your expense (minus DROS) or trade one for the other.

My Beretta is an M9A1 with a Vertec slide, decock only, and steel parts kit. Next are "skinny" grips, and "D" spring.

So LOT'S or mods available for both if you choose to tailor either one to your individual tastes.

I always carried my Beretta in condition 3 (breech empty/safety off) like an Israeli just avoid dealing with the DA trigger. Habit I guess from the SA Colt where I was never comfortable with condition 1 'locked and cocked'.

Gonna practice DA next time at the range and use the decocker as designed.

IF you get a Beretta, I would highly advise getting the D hammer spring. You can find it at Brownells. Its a Beretta factory part that does not reduce reliability. But it will lighten the trigger pull slightly. Doesn't matter much for single action. But it improves the double action from completely intolerable, to awful. In SA, the trigger is nice, just a bit of a long reset.

IMO Glock has a better trigger just because of the shorter reset.

Both have good track records and both are good. The G17 is better because you can work on it yourself and, more importantly, the trigger is consistent.

The DA/SA of the Beretta can be a problem. I used to be a DA/SA advocate, but speed shooting under pressure showed me how much constant practice is required to use it well. Your call, but I prefer a consistent action of any sort over DA/SA.

These two are obviously the only ones on this site that you can trust.
If you're not going to buy them both then you're doing it wrong.

                Glock 17 VS Beretta 92FS

i have INOX Brigadier 92 and a few glocks.
factory glock trigger is one to master and you can shoot any handgun, not vice versa.
i like both platform, would be nice to have less pre-travel on 92.
you can buy decocking kit at convert most 92s.
as for .40 cal there is beretta 96, no 92 in that cal.
                beretta 98 exists too [emoji3]

I might get the Glock first, its seems the 92FS is dropping in price.

How much do you shoot you 92fs? From my experience the two aren't really comparable on the reliability side.

My dads early (1992?) Beretta 92fs is the gun that made me love shooting. I'd fired a couple of his guns when I was young. But when I held the Beretta, it felt like it was made just for me. Then I shot it, and I remember how smooth and soft it was. That was about 25 years ago, give or take a bit.

I've shot Berettas on and off over the years recreationally . Its the gun by which I compare all others to. Sometimes I'll go a while without shooting one, but I always circle back. In the thousands of rounds that I've fired, I've never had a single issue. They eat everything.

That said, I do maintain my guns quite well. All of them. I've read and heard a lot about service Berettas being thrashed and abused. I'm not surprised some of them have had issues.

This is a great video, long though. Great for a marathon on the john...

This shouldn’t even be a question. Beretta is better in every possible category.
Metal gun, less felt recoil, more reliable, better looking, better sights and trigger out of the box. It costs a lot of money to make a stock Glock shoot as well as a stock 92. And if that weren’t enough, just think...if it’s good enough for John McClane and Martin Riggs to carry...then by God it’s good enough for you!

Beretta 92G VS Glock 17 Gen5 ? I own both . Both great guns. I enjoy shooting Beretta more.

Go to the range. Rent both. Shoot both. Decide which one is more better.

But honestly man, this isn't a question of, "which gun to get." It's a question of, "which gun to get...FIRST!"

                                p.s.

All the cool kids are shooting Berettas in a "G" configuration (decocker only, no safety). The gun can be converted down the road. But if you can find a G variant you like from the start, it's one less thing to worry about later. Take a look at what Wilson Combat offers and Beretta just came out with a joint venture gun they made with Ernest Langdon that's pretty sweet. You can get this gun from Langdon Tactical and probably some other places. Link to it below and there's a link on that page to a video of Ernest walking through the features. If you don't know who Ernest is, he's basically "THE MAN" when it comes to the 92.

"Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."
