Match Grade Barrel for the Shield

Anyone have experience with any of the match grade barrels in the Shield? I'm curious about whether it's worth the extra cost.

And yes, I did search for "m&p shield match barrel," and didn't find what I was looking for.

I would just spend the money on ammo and practice. My shield locks up tight and seems really accurate for it's intended short range purpose.

My Shield will stay in the center mass just fine as is, and as is the case with all my guns they can out shoot me any day of the week. I added a green Crimson Trace laser to make it easier to find the target without lining up the sights.

I have no dog in this fight, but here is a review of an L2D shield barrel.



I doubt you will see much accuracy improvement with a barrel swap, but I could be wrong (there may be something wrong with your particular barrel).

Cut though the crap and go to around 13 min on the video below. The video is indicative of the real problem this shooter is having - his grip sucks. He can't hold the gun steady. The laser is dancing around like a hula girl. You can't get one hole accuracy when you can't hold the gun still.



I don't think much of lasers for combat, but this video really drives home the fact that they make a great diagnostic tool. They let you know if your hold is good and, perhaps more importantly, what is happening when the trigger breaks, i.e., your follow through.

If I were you, I'd get a laser before a barrel.

I don't see any advantage to aftermarket barrels in any Shield, except for maybe a conversion. My SiL converted his .40 Shield to a 9mm with a match grade barrel (I can't remember which brand). It's no more accurate than my Shield 1.0 and the function/reliability is still only at 100%. He kicks himself for not spending $100 more and just buying the 9 so he'd have both.

Unless you're getting a threaded barrel I really cant see a point in changing that stock barrel on a gun made for CCW shooting.

People do carry pistols with red dots for CCW. Where have you been?
